hi all, new here thought i might ask. i have a 03 k3 blue white 8,000 mile.  just retired hoping to get out . however , a yr ago ,i had a pin hole leak in the fuel tank . i sealed that ,after this job i started to get an intermitent issue which seems fuel related ,  yesterday i took off just to try .it as you guys know pulls like a train  and for a few min all smiles.... then its just like its running out of fuel or i forgot to turn fuel on..  almost but not actually cutting out . then it will pick up and go of like a train again ,  this happened several times, but i got home , any consensus on likely cause , plugs ,straw coloured occasionally back fires, but it goes like  bloody rocket  anytime the issue goes away .almost certain its to do with tank sealing efforts  ,removed tank and pump cant see anything , thinking to change fuel pump .seen on fleabay just under 70 quid but happy to follow any other likely suggestions

Hello AJL welcome along. There are some real gurus on here who I am sure will be along to help. To me it sounds like fuel starvation, look through the "Tech tip" in the fuel forum on these pages and check out cleaning the teabag filter ( IN your fuel pump - I got that a bit wrong)

Might be nice for you to drop into the introductions page and tell us a little more -pickies are nice too  :grin:

Nice to see someone else in France, which Dept. Are you in?
If you are going to run out of fuel, do it in your garage.

It's only a short walk to the kettle.

Hi AJL, welcome aboard.   Your issue does sound fuel related & with sealing the tank previously also lends me to think it's your filters, one or the other or both.  The fact you had a pin hole develop would indicate water / rust inside the tank, this crud gets sucked up by the fuel pump as it's in the lowest part of the tank, the smaller stuff get stuck in the high pressure filter whereas the bigger stuff gets trapped by the 'Teabag'.  Easy to check the teabag filter & if that's blocked give it a good clean & also try a reverse flush on your HP filter - tech tips section detail how to do these. Or do the HP Filter bypass mod & never have trouble again with the hp side.

Cheers, hope you get it sorted quickly, being retired you'll have plenty of time then.
😎  Always looking for the next corner.  😎

That sounds similar to my bike, pulls well when under power but stalls and runs crap at tick over.  Next thing to try is fuel pump and filters.
Keep the rubber side down.          Mick

did not get to teabag today , weather good so ran off on ducati for an hr or two . thinking on , i know teabag was clean as i had all that out to re seal tank ,what i dont know about is the high press side as i understand suzuki have ensured that that cant be serviced !! i found a new pump on flebay under 70 plus delivery . can anyone refer me to the high pressure mod. i would like to read about that. rain forcast for tomorrow if so tank off

on a related matter ,anyne know where i can get a replacement blue,white tank as i am not happy with resealed tank , its a bugger that .no facility to drain tank in winters ,properly,as far as i can see and tank otherwise completely unmarked . thanks guys for advise.i will keep an update if i resolve the matter.

@ajl

I always keep the tank filled to the brim over winter so that no condensation can form causing rust..I NEVER drain the system down.

I ride mine all year round so for me the part of the bike with the least amount of water is inside the tank.

Same with my GSX1400, but the Bandit spends all winter in the shed :onya:
