I was cleaning my bike at 0530 on Saturday..
The sky was blue and the weather forecast was excellent for the full day.

Phoned a mate up and rode the 49 miles to his house for a Bacon and Egg sandwich then to go for a ride.
This guy (Dave) is one of those people with a built in TomTom in his head.. He knows some amazing roads that the tourists and Sunday drivers do not use..
He lives near Skipton in Yorkshire.

Then went a VERY roundabout way through the most amazing scenery and tiny roads to Wastwater in the Lake District..

I rode a similar distance Friday through the Eifel, Luxemburg, and Ardennes. For navigation I use the sun and my nose. Major roads I avoid like pest & cholera.

Thanks for your kind comments...
It shows how bike unfit you can be at the start of the season..
I am pretty wrecked after yesterday..
Just had a 20 mile local ride today...
Going to have several G & T's now (recently got quite fond of them) and chill out.

Did you by chance go via Wrynose and Hardknott passes?

If so your description is spot on - in what feels sometimes like a former life we used to head out through Eskdale and over those passes to the Unicorn - a Hartley's pub in Ambleside. Then back again after lunch and a few beers. Happy days!!

I plan on living forever - so far, so good!

Assumption is the mother of all fuck ups!

I'm desparate to get out but fate is conspiring against me with calipers and family comitments!!

Ps I'm guessing you don't go to the gym
Many a Donkey has lost its hoof on the rocky road, don't be that Donkey!

Looks like a cracker of a day.
Ottomans: 'Hippity hoppity, Vienna's our property"
