Cracking pics Barmy.... I was fishing on Grafham Water last year when that Lancaster along with a spitfire and hurricane flew over at low level.... what a sound!  Fair made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up!

They had the Typhoon display team out as well doing low passes over the runway on full afterburner - what a noise that made when we were in the hangers looking at the Spits and Hurricanes!
Nothing to do.............all day to do it....I love retirement

Great pictures Dave. Thanks for sharing  :onya:
Another great day on the right side of the grass.😎

I'd love to see a flying Lanc.

There was a Spit used to do displays down under here for a while. Owner died but I think it's still here somewhere...

LOVE those Merlins.

I'm not averse to almost anything aviation though.

I also have a soft spot for de Havilland. There used to be a Vampire doing the rounds, but haven't seen it in the air for years. That whistling Goblin jet engine....  And the cartridge starters... :)

...and then the Winged Hussars arrived.

My mum and dad had a place in Auckland out by Ardmore Aerodrome which had a pretty strong Warbirds clan. Used to be a Vampire fly from there, yep a pretty impressive sound. A replica Mosquito was built there and flew for a while before going to its overseas owners.....now that was pretty special.

According to YouTube, there is a flying Mossie in NZ - hopefully still flying there

Next to the Spits and Lanc, my soft spot is for Mossie's lovely looking aircraft, hopefully there is one at Omaka Aviation Heritage Centre when I visit NZ next year.

Or is this the one that got sold overseas?

Do sound gorgeous don't they.  ;)  We had a display not far from where I live a few years back, managed to grab a couple of pics.  You can probably spot the biggest mistake I made with my camera settings.  They were snapped in a hurry is my only excuse.  ;)

Good to know the Mosquito was a rebuild, for some reason I thought it was a replica. Pretty sure it was for an overseas owner.
Mum and Dad lived at the top of the hills in that clip.

I did some work up at Coningsby a couple of years ago and got to sit in a Spitfire and the Lancaster, the only noticeable thing non standard in them is a USB connector the (mandatory) satnav.

You lucky person you, I'm envious, I'd love to be able to do that, in fact I'd love to go up in the two seater spit, but its mega£ and a waiting list of about 2.5 years last time I looked.

I also got the chance to sit in a Tornado and a Typhoon while working up at Lossiemouth and a couple of Helicopters at Benson.

Never sat in a Typhoon, but have sat in both a GR1 and a GR4, great planes the Tornado's, love 'em. Would also liked to have had a sit in a Harrier, but never had the opportunity

One of my former bosses (great guy) used to work in the RAAF and actually got a ride in an F1-11, not once but twice !  Bastard.

Thanks.  I was swinging a Sigma 50-500 lens about when taking those shots, had the shutter speed a tad too high.  Ideally a slower speed would have captured some spinning of the props instead off them looking static.  Still quite pleased with them though.
