Givi top box strap repair

Anyone have any ideas for a permanent repair to the straps that hold the lid of a Givi top box to prevent the lid opening too far? Attempt to secure the screws into the holes with epoxy adhesive have failed after a few weeks.

What do you mean by straps? My E52 box had a couple of limiter straps on the sides to stop it opening too far - is that what you mean?

Any chance of a picture of said problem, might help us to suggest options

Good thread. Mine are buggered too.

But it occurred to me, after stepping on a pair of specs that fell from my bike seat - $$ - that an open topbox lid is somewhere that they can't fall out of, whilst donning my helmet !

Yeah, its the lid limiter straps I'm talking about. More precisely it's the screws that are the problem. Nothing wrong with the straps themselves, but the screws keep coming loose from either end of the straps. Someone on the facebook group has suggested riveting them on.

Hmm that's a new one that I haven't heard of before I'll admit. One trick I've read before is to put a tad of blutac in the screw hole and then screw them back in - the blutac is sticky enough to stop them turning and coming loose and soft enough to fill out any "loose fitting". No idea if it works or not as never tried it myself, but there is some merit in what it suggests.

It may be worth dropping a mail to Givi, or speaking with one of their suppliers, they often have little tricks up their sleeves for addressing this sort of "issue" (although I have to say Givi UK are atrocious at responses, so I'd chat to a main Givi dealer first)
