just asking the opinion on front hoses. stock 3 braided or just the 2 long ones. any difference?

seth

Both mine run 2 hoses
Emma's runs 3 hoses
Only difference for me is when first bleeding them when new as 3 hoses can be more problematical and the 2 hoses set up is normally a bit cheaper for very simular/same/slight improvement in performance as 3 hoses.
in use any aftermarket kit is better than old worn standard hoses.

oh and a standard one too

We had the discussion on the old org about 2 or 3 hoses and performance and came to the conclusion that there was no (noticeable) performance difference, so was personal choice.

My own choice is the 3 hose setup, as with the removal of the splitter, you have to find somewhere to hold the hoses in place around the bottom yoke. I must admit having done hoses for a number of members, I've never found it more or less difficult doing the 2 or 3 hose setup, but maybe I've just been lucky
Nothing to do.............all day to do it....I love retirement

i have 2 lines, 1 long from pump to rhs caliper, and a short one to connect the calipers

There's no difference in performance. Pressure in a fluid is felt equally perpendicular to all surfaces. You could have 30 lines and it will make no difference.

Here's some info

2 lines are quoted as being race setup due to there only being failure points at the calipers and master cylinder so fluid spillage on a track is minimised. 3 lines have more points of failure.

People often switch to 2 lines for financial reasons. 2 lines being the cheapest.

3 lines are an absolute dog to bleed

3 lines look cleaner as only 1 line exits the master cylinder. The splitter is usually out of sight.

It just depends on what look or budget you're after

Same setup was on my 1997 TL1000S. Easy to bleed and probably the cheapest option :onya:

Agreed. I'm struggling to see a negative to this setup other than heat dissipation from the fluid which would only be prevalent on a track anyway. Less fluid to boil

Andre

Not had a problem bleeding the 3-hose setup.

I was thinking about getting the 2-hose when I upgraded but this would have to be approved by our MOT and noted in the papers by a government agency. At least 2 trips, waiting in line and paying each one. Could have bought 2 sets of hoses for that bureaucracy spin. :frustrated:

Wow, pretty strict rules then

Andre

Lots of strict rules here. To much to list. Every year gets worse. You may or may not get away disobeying some. Depends on who you meet at traffic controls/MOT.  :whatever:

Hey Grog,
The official HEL site gives you colour options on both lines and Banjo, the link below is to the 2 line set up  :onya:
In the 'fittings tab' you can buy Black or Blue M12 Banjo bolts not checked if that's correct for the 14!

Don't know how these compare cost wise in Aussie Dolly  :whistling:
