My new bars arrived today, for the Black, nice gold bars to match the brake calipers etc.  Is there a method I should follow to do the change over from std bars? or just Unbolt everything & put it back on the new bars?   Anything I should watch out for? or tricks to get things apart?

Thx guys.

The left and right switches are prevented from rotating by pins that locate in holes in the handlebars. Your new bars will have to have these holes drilled unfortunately. Wait until everything is bolted in place and feels right before doing this. Last thing you want is to drill holes in the bars only to realize you need to adjust the bars which will put the switches out of position.

Remember to tighten the clamp bolts evenly and a little at a time. You will be able to tell from the gaps at each bolt position, they should be even.

Don't try and force your throttle grip off the bar, the cables aren't long enough for that. Slide it off last when the bar's unbolted and refit the same way. It saves removing the cable from the twistgrip which is a pain in the ass to refit.

Your standard bar ends might not fit. I fitted black Renthalls to mine and if I remember right, the internal diameter is smaller than standard.

Try and keep the brake and clutch master cylinders the right way up. If the turn over, there's a possibiliry that air from the air gap at the top can make its way to the piston and get introduced to the lines.

Other than that, you're all good  :onya:

No need to drill holes for switch. Just file switches pins ~70% off and they will stay in position when you tight the switches bolts.
This is what I have done.

There is some installation video with pretty good explanation

I agree with Northern on the switches.

Only thing you might need to do is leave the glue for fitting the LH grip at least 24 hours to dry before fitting the bars else you might get a grip that turns (not good for putting bike on mainstand as could slide off).

Also the Renthal bar ends are useless IMO, aluminium and way too light. Oberon stainless steel ends are about the same weight as standard and fit fine.

Just remember when re-fitting the handlebar clamps that the dot goes to the front.
Nothing to do.............all day to do it....I love retirement

All fitted up tonight. Haven't got grip glue, so will have to do that bit later. The left end weight just wouldn't undo, munted the slot for the Philips, but got it sorted as you'll see below.

Before, during & after pics.

Before I start

That got it!

Take that Ba#&ard thing

Bit left hanging out, but bars are naff anyway.

Throttle side - I'd already slotted the hole previous to accommodate the cruise control

Bars on, Bar End mirrors needed modifying to fit inside the Renthals, dunno if I like 'em or not.

All done - now to tidy the shed tomorrow. I've got shite everywhere!

Thanks for the suggestions on how to get this done without any fuss.

your thoughts on difference Col. thinking of getting the lower ones. just dropping myself down 20mm eliminates all helmet, most, noise. they look good mate, get a top yoke stainless cover, polish the risers, makes a huge difference. looks awesome. just my opinion.

im going to fit a set on soon ive got a set of black  ones for mine and some bar end mirrors will do some pics when i get round to doing it .
Col yours look sweet and i like the bar end mirrors too .... i went to fit the mirrors on the standard bars and found as in one of your pics that the bar ends are solid and my mirrors slid inside the ends of the bars so i will have to change the bars any way !
i intend to live for ever or die trying !!

I haven't had a chance to take it for a blat yet & see how they feel. I worked late yesterday then came home & straight into the shed to fit up. It'll probably be next weekend before I can got for a wee pootle & see how the bars feel & whether or no I want those mirrors.

The black is the 2nd bike now, I'm not doing too much to it, just get it to the stage of being road compliant & safe.

Cuts like a knife that does Col!

Those Blacks don't need a lot to look good though 🤞
