Has anyone fitted GSXR SRAD wheels?

Hi guys,

First of all, many thanks for this great forum, always interesting and fun to read.

For some time I wanted to have an extra pair of wheels for my 14, so that I could have quickly 'swappable' 2 different tyres type sets, depending if I go for a ride in the curvy mountain roads around, or if I have to go for a (much less interesting, to be honest) tour on a motorway or something alike.

I came across recently on a used '99 750 SRAD wheels pair, which, I must admit, I bought somewhat blindly: wheel sizes are the same, same overall end-'80 to 2000 aspect. Unfortunately, after first excitement, I faced the real problems: front wheel seem OK so far (I still have to double check that), but read wheel has the following differences (at least):
- different sprocket: different chain pitch, six mounting holes instead of 5. However, this can be sorted out by ordering custom-made sprockets from Renthal, for example.
- different sprocket holder: fortunately I got the one which came with the SRAD rear wheel
- front and rear sprockets alignment not matching: the SRAD rear sprocket is shifted about 1cm to the outside (left, viewed from the back). That is where the big issue is: I though for a moment about using the '14 spacers to realign the sprockets positions, alas they are not compatible: SRAD outer left spacer has a small 'sleeve' that goes halfway into the sprocket holder bearing, and obviously the inner spacer has the corresponding 'half-sleeve' that goes into the bearing, and at the other end, the same 'half-sleeve' that goes into the wheel bearing -- the '14 sprocket holder inner spacer has only one sleeve goes all the way into the holder bearing... Long story short, it seems not possible to use the '14 spacers on the SRAD wheel, and moreover there is some chances that if I could do so, the front and rear wheels would not be aligned...

Would anyone have a workable solution?

Cheers,
Renaud

Hiya anything can be made to fit anything with skill and cash .
:whistling:

It's normal to go to the bar and introduce yourself before just asking stuff .

As for what fits easily
Hyabusa and bking front wheels/discs are the same
If you go to Robinsons Suzuki you can get the part number and Google it to see if any others are the same.
Rear wheels are gsx1400 only but other have fitted Busa wheels but I think it's not as straightforward as they are different. Think needs spacers and possibly wheel machining maybe more work.

Other should be along with any more info if they have any

only a slightly modified gsx1400
oh and a standard one too

Perhaps this is a dumb question, but if you want a spare set of wheels to try out different tyres, why don't you just get another set of GSX1400 wheels?

>> Yes, sorry for this. I did post a few things over the years, but indeed haven't taken time to properly introduce myself. Will sort that out soon :-)

>> Thanks for the hint. Will dig a little bit more on what is to be done on the SRAD wheel I have as well.

That is the basic question, indeed: still haven't found second-hand GSX1400 ones around here, and new ones are quite expensive. So when I came across these used pair I though that would be a direct and straightforward replacement, which was, er, dumb...

There are a front and rear wheel on eBay 2 sellers
Rear £180
Front £160
I think go do a search you'll see them .

Many thanks for the hint!

Just had a look and found two or three front wheels, but no rear one  :embarrassed:

Would you have, by any chance, kept a link for the Rear one?

SpongeBob

Actually, I found one, but it is in very poor condition (it has a bump and a crack, maybe more)...

seth

Sorry I didn't but it had a while to go on it.
I only saw 1 of each so must be others .

Teufel

I have a rear you can have.
Just pay shipping.
I am in Australia.
Where in France are you?

SpongeBob

Wow! That's absolutely great news!

I am in the southern part, in Valence; Zip code: 26120
Exactly here, if you want to have an idea of the exact place: "https://goo.gl/maps/jZ5T4Rn96Hq"

Let me know as soon as you have an idea of the shipping costs and how you want me to transfer money; or do you want me to try to arrange shipment from here?

Renaud

Teufel

No. It'll be fine.
I'll let you know.
I'll PM when I know cost and need your details.
I'm guessing you'd like the disk left on?
Hope that's okay.
I'll be in touch.

SpongeBob

Yes, that would be perfect with the disc left on.

Many thanks again for all this,  :worshippy:

Cheers, mate!

SpongeBob,
M'Lady came home from hospital today (all good) so I missed the post office. It's Saturday.
I will be there Monday and let you know.
