Cyclone heading for NZ, any you Kiwis in its path? Seems weird, tropical cyclone warning for NZ, usually its us.

Projected path:

A Cyclone Gita tracking map, issued Monday morning by MetService, shows the storm crossing over the top of the South Island when it hits.

Closer to Col in the South Island. All being well should pass just to the North of him.
Another great day on the right side of the grass.😎

I think they're saying we'll (Christchurch) get heavy rain & strong winds, but most of the impact looks like it's going to be on the west coast again, top of the south island & bottom of the north.
Those poor buggers are still cleaning up after the last one & this one is reportedly bigger with higher seas than before.  Gotta feel sorry for those folk who's homes are going to be taken by the sea. Lot of them lost a lot of their sections last one, reckon this time the sea will have them. I hope not, but will just have to wait & see.

Latest update for Canterbury, looks like we're going to get smashed from lunchtime Tuesday till around midnight. The west coast cops it first, then it crosses the alps & hits this side, but goes for longer with southerly winds causing high seas here too.

Going to be an interesting day tomorrow.  I don't live coastal at home, so no issues for us with flooding or high seas, my holiday area (Kaikoura) is right on the coast. Can only hope it's as I left it yesterday afternoon.

Bloody hell Col..
I will be hoping for minimal damage for you mate..
Makes charging a battery seem pretty pathetic really !!

KiwiCol

We'll be fine here at home, just wet. Boat has been covered with it's 'winter coat' just now, so it can do what it likes.

Not good - hope everyone is safe down there!

Are these cyclones "normal" this time of year? Not something we hear much about up here in the znorthern Hemisphere.
Nothing to do.............all day to do it....I love retirement

Notty

The older I get the better I was
The problem with retirement is that you cant take a day off

KiwiCol

They're not normal for us Kiwi's Dave, more Aussie as a rule.

If you are going to run out of fuel, do it in your garage.
