O ring size

Tank going off for painting next week so was going to get some new O rings just in case but then Barmy pointed out the price of original parts !!  the part numbers 34825-31F00 for the sender unit (cost £4.62) and from what I can make out its 15201-35F00 (£24.28) for the pump gasket !! So anyone know the size of these so I can source them elsewhere?

Geoff, remember with o-rings, that its not just the size, but also the material they are made from that you have to take into account; I would imagine (but don't know) that the standard ones are probably oil/petrol resistant, mind you still a silly price!

Where to purchase alternate - in all honesty I have no idea. When I had my tank off, I gently removed both the pump and filter units, and the original rings came away cleanly. They are only a low torque for the bolts so haven't been squashed on. In refitting, I gave them a very thin smear of Castrol Red Rubber grease before fitting to lube them (you can get 5g tins of this off eBay for pence, and its also useful for fitting caliper pistons) and had absolutely no issue subsequently.

Size is also important it would seem, have found a firm that does petroleum proof O rings but I have no idea what size they are may have to wait until I take the pump out I guess ! and thanks for the red grease info - £1.78 incl p&p on FleaBay

I was able to re use the fuel pump "O" ring when I removed mine for cleaning as well. Not had any problems with it leaking at all.

I generally get o-rings from www.simplybearings.co.uk - they have pretty much any size you can think of, plus data sheets listing things like solvent resistance. From memory, as long as it's nitrile rubber it will be petrol resistant.

It's pretty easy to measure your existing o-ring if you have a set of vernier calipers. You can search the site using a combination of inside diameter, outside diameter and cross-sectional diameter (thickness).

By the way, they are also good for bearings (as the name implies), oil seals and all sorts of useful stuff.

I must have had the pump & bits out of my 14 half a dozen times, never replaced the O-rings yet. Just a smear of rubber grease as Barmy said.

Had the tanks apart on three other 14s never an issue there either with reusing the O-rings.

Going to measure again to be sure and try that 'simply bearings' website but if anyone has any info that might help it would be greatly appreciated. Rather replace it then use any sealants or adhesives.

Measured 16mm OD and 5mm Sect?

Just measured my fuel pressure regulator O ring (as I am cleaning out my old pump) and the outer dia is 14mm and the inner is 8mm.
So the thickness is 3mm

I agree with what others have said..
Don't bother with a new O ring..
Just lubricate around the rings when you refit..
This applies to the FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR O ring and the filter bowl O ring as well !!

Stupid price from suzuki though. I had to order one as mine was damaged & I had no luck getting it elsewhere due to the size.
