:furious: :furious: Rant alert  :furious: :furious:

Yesterday a howling biff got three years (that means 18 months) in a centrally heated hotel with three hot meals a day, sky TV, Phone calls and a private room for killing a lad on a motorbike while driving on the wrong side of the road using her mobile phone, a 27 minute yakker. When will innocent people get justice for this kind of reckless behaivior. This sort of justice really pi$$es me off.

:furious: rant over, for now  :furious:

Here here,,,,what really pisses me off is if the biker had have been caught doing over  the ton Mark on his bike, without hurting or killing anyone he would probably receive a longer spell behind bars plus a bloody good fine to go with it,,,makes one wonder doesn't it,,.

Last year a biker got two years for speeding.

"Using her mobile phone" - must admit that really irkes me when I'm out driving, people yakking on their phones. When I worked for BP, it was a sackable offence if you used your mobile whilst driving, more companies should do that IMO. And the law should up the fines etc for same.
Nothing to do.............all day to do it....I love retirement

The problem with retirement is that you cant take a day off

It'll only change when the public mindset changes, like it did for drinking and driving. It needs a combination of heavy penalties and public education, but I don't think we are near there yet.

I would certainly support an instant ban for those who are caught using their phone while driving, but from what I can see people are doing it with impunity because a) the penalty isn't a deterrent and b) the chances of being seen are tiny, since there are no traffic police anywhere.

i drive all day for work. all the time see frogwits txting,or on the phone, car drivers, bus drivers, truck drivers. annoys me lots. i want a sign to hold up to them. shove your phone up your arse, or similar. after work, on my bike, pulled up at lights today, could see 3 txting. a laser beam i really want, just zap the bloody phone. my ute, my car have mobile blue tooth connections, never bothered on bike, my time only. will never , ever have phone, music etc on bike. 46 yrs without, not changing now. i am not old fashioned or tech. challenged, my bike is my time. kiwifruit wrote similar not long back, therapy time. sure is true.

The latest  Apple update means the i phone sensors when you are moving, so now shuts off into a sleep mode whenever I'm in the car, to use the hands free I have to tell it I'm the passenger.

Point being surely there is somthing they can do to shut phones down unless connected to hands free, or maybe it should be an MOT fail if you dont have handsfree fitted to your car!

Many a Donkey has lost its hoof on the rocky road, don't be that Donkey!

Mister Fishfinger

Technology can only do so much. People will find their way around it if they are determined to do so.

For example in Greece, seatbelts are compulsory but people hate wearing them. So in many petrol stations you can buy a dummy seatbelt prong that you can plug in to the receptacle in your car, which then shuts up the warning bell and light.

mjgt..I saw the report on the news last night...Made my piss boil too.

They were talking about making it illegal to even use "Hands free" kit while driving as it has been proved that when using it your attention is not 100% on your driving.
I see it all the time while I'm riding, even on the motorway. Followed a Mini one night wandering between lane 2 and 3..As I passed it..Dumb blonde on mobile!! :furious: :furious:
Assumption is the mother of all fuck ups!

Even more annoying she was using hands free it said. Even more reason phones should be banned in cars FULL STOP !!
there must be technology so all phones shut down over 10mph . I tell work leave me a voicemail and I will pull over and check it when I get chance

Well said Steve, 1000% agree  :clapping:

Car manufacturers don't help though - in my Audi (and you must know this), if I get a text (instead of a voicemail), I can get the car to read it to me (if I so choose - I don't - but the option is there). Probably the same in many other (recent - less than 5 year old) VAG group cars as well as other manufacturers. Technology really can go too far FFS, do we really need to be contactable 24x7? Simple answer NO.

I saw the case, as it was on our local BBC news. I was literally spitting at the television...

Stupid woman actually tried to lie at first as to her explanation why she was on the wrong side of the road.

This has just been made worse for me as I knew the rider personally, when I saw the original post I wasn't aware that it was about him, just for the record he was one of the nicest lads you could wish to meet, and a good motorcycle mechanic,   Gutted,,
