Given I'm more into touring/getting out and about for a ride more these days, just thought others might benefit from a set of maps that cover the entire UK&I. They are a little out of date now for newer roads (being last produced in 2008) but for less than a tenner to me are in investment, as they are plastic covered (so won't get wet), can be written on (and wiped off) and show places of interest for bikers to go look at when out and about. I use them a lot for planning, even for days out, so thought others might be interested.

They are called "Touring Map for Motorcyclists" and come as a set of 12 foldaway maps, so easily pushed into tank bags or whatever (or you just take the one you need for that day or tour)

Bang on young Seth, Lidl it was! Great maps though as you say

If they are the lidl/aldi ones then they go get wet eventually, but the plastic holds them together so it only leaves stains.

My set live under my seat so I can't forget them.

What's wrong with a GPS you Luddites?  :stir:

I print mine out from ADAC (road side assistance and more), cut, zoom+- to desired size and have them laminated.

For example https://www.adac.de/_mmm/pdf/TK_10_Eifel_%20Luxemburg_210807.pdf

Tom Tom, latest version, gives so much information on speed cameras traffic and hold ups as well as maps of the whole of Europe so do not leave home without it. When outside the UK though I do carry a small scale touring atlas as a back up.
Hate the thought of having to stop to pull out a map again.

Have to agree with you Timothy!   More time map reading = less time riding!   Having said that... I do like to have a look at a 'complete' journey sometimes - Sat nav cant manage that ;-)

I agree - but for planning and easily spotting places of interest - TomTom not so good (and yes I have the latest TomTom). Its great for mapping windy rides and making them interesting but for planning - sorry the TomTom application on the PC is (IMO) sadly lacking bigtime. Hence why I use the maps for planning my touring, but then feed the route into TT - which then does a great job.

Barmy... are you using tyre?  It uses google maps for route planning so easily manageable on the pic, also has a direct interface into Tom Tom and Garmin satnavs.  Works well for me!

No buddy, I use MyRoute, much better than Tyre https://www.myrouteapp.com/en for doing that.

Somehow though the purpose of posting up about these maps seems to have been lost. The UK&I ones I suggested show all the Biker places of interest, so on any route you can see at a glance if there are places of interest worth going to; Tyre, MyRoute, TomTom etc don't do that. That's all I use them for as you can see your options at a glance. Once I know where I want to go then I use MyRoute to plan it, including going via places of interest I may not otherwise have been aware of.

they used to do updated ones ever couple of years .
the supply company must be the same as the Germans use as the same style/font/graphics on the maps
you still get the german ones but lidl used to do them with the rest of the bike stuff twice a year but not seen them for a good few years now.

It is based around an American military satellite system, so Donald Trump could turn it off without any warning in a fit of pique.
