Overheated brake disks

Hey there,

At a past track day I got a little excited and gave everything including the breaks a hard time....the disks now have little spots/dots all over them which is apparently a sign of them being overheated....they still seem to be pulling up fine & appear to have plenty of pad left (bikes only done 15K)...

Will these heat spots fade/disappear with time & is their any reason for concern?

I also noticed that on a recent oil change my magnetic sump plug had an ever so slight trace of something other than the red motul oil on it....would this be considered normal engine wear...?

Hope your all well & thanks in advance...

as long as the disc's run free and have no juddering under braking they should be fine.
(remember to jeep the floating bobbins free as part of your maintenance routine ).
as long as just a trace of of metal its normal wear but beware of anything more than a trace .

Thanks for that, was part of the old forum for a while too....

Heres a photo of said overheated brakes (sorry for the spelling error earlier)...they seem to be returning to normal from just riding them so will just stick with that for now...

Yet to look into the state of my bobbins (had to youtube them just to even understand what they were & what purpose they served ha)...job for another day...

Jeez, they must have been hot!  Least the Tokico 6 pots were doing their job fairly well then.

There's a "how too" thread on here somewhere.
I did mine recently. Nut / Bolt / Washers though the bobbin,
Socket on a drill, spin them and wash out with brake cleaner.

Put another thousand or so K's on the bike since & the disks are starting to revert back to normal in appearance which is good...another thousand & thy-ell be back to normal...
