K2 Under Seat Buzzing

Hi all you magic carpet boffins. This is the problem my K2 with 10,000 miles on the clock runs as smooth as smooth can be up to 3,000 revs then I get a small vibration coming through the seat area not the handle bars.
I placed the bike on the centre stand and ran the engine  :doh:vibration still there so its not the rear wheel bearings.
It may be me but I have a GSX650F which is slick right through the rev range.

From memory, there's supposed to be rubber bits between the seat & frame in a couple of places. Maybe yours have come off or aren't there. They're ribbed rubber bits, fit on the frame & think there's something on the under side of the seat itself too - attached the white moulded plastic.
I'd be checking that area first.  Have a look at the manual & find these rubber bits I'm talking about & see if they're still there.

What you may find is that the engine bolts need re-torquing. Quite a few 14's have "run smoother" after this has been done, what happens is over time the engine slightly "drops" so that it is resting on the engine bolts themselves.

To re-torque, you need to support - not lift! - the engine from underneath, and then loosen off the engine mounting bolts at the front and on the triangles each side, and then re-torque them as per the manual torques.

The other thing to check as others have said is the chain - and sprockets. Do check that there is not sprocket wear, then clean the chain completely (a Ketten Chain cleaner is great for this) and re-lube.

Barmy, sprocket wear 1000 k's per year,  think it would have to be rusty.
