Went onto the Suzuki dealers today. Looking for a pair of winter gloves for the bride. I'd heard they had some heated ones there.
Anyway the salesman asks what do I ride ? I say a GSX1400. He says we would be happy to trade that when you want to upgrade. So now I say OK what would I trade up to. He says,  the GSX1000S. I say show me..... Nice bike I say,  and were does the Missus sit ? As I look at the pillion provisions.
I said mate I wouldnt insult her by saying there you are dear dont that look comfy for a days ride !!
Next he says then you want the new VStrom1000.....Id test ridden one before buying the 14, couldnt wait to take it back. I says no thanks I cant see anything id trade the 1400 for. I ask what are Suzuki doing for an update on the 1400......then he says Nothing, we cannot get enough  1400's they never stay in the showroom long.
So the heated gloves, Five brand were $499 but they didnt have any in stock. And on low only lasted 3.5 hrs..... .... Missus reckons she will try some proper bike mittens over normal gloves.
I did give the 14 a pat when i got home and told her to relax she aint goin nowhere.  :smitten:
Another great day on the right side of the grass.😎

Hey Kiwi,

Good to know the GSX is very much a wanted bike, but at the same time, it's bad news because there may not be any left for me to buy later in life when my own one eventually dies.

I'm at work right now, but in one hour I will be jumping onto my 14 for that glorious ride home again. I love that bike  :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:

I used to say that........ :whistling:.............however mine had to go for medical reasons, so I guess I have an excuse.
Nothing to do.............all day to do it....I love retirement

Snapey

My heated inner gloves last all day because they're hooked up to the battery. You just have to remember to un-plug them when you get off. The best bit of winter kit though is the heated vest with heating elements front & back.

So I'm a sook .... but a warm sook. :cheesy:
If you look like your passport photo then you're too sick to travel.

You could try some mittens for her, I read somewhere that they are warmer because your fingers are touching.
I've seen picks online, we don't get them down here, not really cold enough to be honest.

Yep, really it was the nice big screen to keep the wind off, the heated grips (as standard), the heated seats (as standard), and 137 bhp as standard. That aside it was a tough decision  :rofl2:

I got a screen, aims the wind directly at my helmet, so same there, I have gloves, so hands are warm, same there, I fart a lot, so have heated seat too, 137bhp, well, might be down just a tad on that - but being a black, it's fast anyway! :rofl2:

I've said it before on here, and to Suzuki dealers, Suzuki has a very poor line up of bikes in the showroom today.

This is the company that gave us the GSX1100ET/EX, 1100 Katana, the 1135 EF, The GSXR1100 Slabsider and Slingshots, the original Bandit 1200, the 99 Gen-1 Busa, the GSX1400, the TL1000S, the B-King and a few others.

Either class leaders, big bore brutes, mad machines, stuff that was big and tough, stuff folk wanted and got excited over. Bikes that still have a following years later.

What do we get now?
A 1250 Blandit that's OK, a safe and sensible workhorse.
A Hayabusa that's changed little over 18 years.
A GSX-S1000 that feels physically small and isn't that special against its completion of super-nakeds.

There's has never been a replacement for the GSX1400 that ticks all the box's.
There has never been a replacement for the B-King as a big bore thug bike.

I joke my interest in Suzuki's is "80-08". The start of the GSX11 in 1980 to the end of the 14 and release of the B-King in 2008.

Hi Snapey. Do you know what brand the gloves and vest are.....always good to look at gear that people recommend .

That pretty much sums it up Tony.

I test rode the GSX1000S and there's nothing wrong with it (well, snatchy throttle but that's fixable apparently).
On the other hand there's nothing particularly right with it either it's just ... OK.

Love live the mighty GSX1400!

1000s is a bit small with a rubbish pillion seat, I am hoping that Mr Suzuki does decide to make the GSX1100 six.
Keep the rubber side down.          Mick

agree, suxuki not many, if any, good new bikes. i also tested gsx1000, wasnt impressed. small. i actually rode mv brutale, mt09 &07 that day. i liked 07 the best. no 14 replacement, just a nice bike. mr kiwi col, get your wife some dry rider internal thermals. they work nicely, less than 20 bucks. wear under original gloves. day i rode gsx at suzuki, sales guy was pushing me to boulevard. not in my life. i wish for a new suzuki, as stated, they used to be unreal, not at present. yamaha has been big mover last couple of years. mate works for them, reckons mt10 is not the last, keeps telling me a big naked, 1600 plus is coming. 4 cyl i mean. hope hes right. hes been correct about mt 07, 09 and 10.

daveh

Yamaha have something coming on the 5th of June, big tourer of some description.
