Those crap rides just happen sometimes, all sorts of reasons cause them. Im sure weve all been there at sometime. Glad you made it home. Youre ride reviews are a credit to you Mate, i couldnt do any of your maps etc.

Thanks Grog. These little write-ups are my only way of contributing to the forum; my thechnical knowlege is almost zero and I'm not into mods (I still like my GSX the way it came out of the showroom). I just like riding the things...

I have done some bigger posts on here about my trips to Norway and Spain / Portugal but on the old forum were the reports from Picos de Europa, Italy, France / Pyrenees and Hungary. Those all disapperaed with the old forum, but I still have the pictures and texts so maybe I'll post them up again in case they are of interest to newer members.

Has the Raven been renamed from Lynn's Raven Cafe on the Whitchurch bypass or is that a different one?
We used to go there quite a lot when we lived in Staffordshire, the breakfasts were legend.

Yes, same place - Prees Heath is just south of the Whitchurch bypass and rammed with bikes in the better weather. (You get served a lot quicker in January  )

Notty

Rode to Brecon for fuel then off to Abergavenny via the A40 and home - 90 miles sunny but cold  :)
The older I get the better I was
The problem with retirement is that you cant take a day off

Every ride counts and the sun is going to be shining again next week.

BTW that looks like it needs more bacon.

Pete.

Looks like your GPS is one of the early original ones . . .   :onya: :clapping:

Another great day on the right side of the grass.😎

DP1400

Notty, very impressive - I make that 52 miles before a toilet stop. Well done  :rofl2:
Judging by the sheer scale of the toilet building, (compared to the size of the cafe), I can`t help wondering whether that was one of those National Trust toilets attached to an old castle or something? I`ve looked all over Google Earth and can`t find it...... :confused1:

Bus station car park, Abergavenny - around 100 bikes on a sunny weekend..sorry the scale wasn't quite correct. Wetherspoons in Brecon bigger than toilets  :bugga:

I must say @Notty it's early in the year to have completed your normal annual mileage. Have you got other hobbies too?

Eric GSX1400K3

What's the scale on your map Notty?  my trigonometry may be a bit rusty, but from your map, the ride home from the toilet should have been 42 miles, so you may have gone over your annual allocated mileage....

Plus how's the wear on your tyres, no corners on your ride?
I try to take one day at a time, however sometimes several days catch up with me at once.

Hooli

Don't forget it's a topographic map so distances maybe deceptive as they allow for mountainous terrain.

GSXKING

@Notty take no notice of these Luddites  :whatever:
I quite enjoy your drawing maybe next time do a finger painting to appease your detractors  :stir:

Best allrounder I've ever owned 👍

Was thinking the windows at the toilet could use cleaning, then realized it was graffiti  :onya:
Great detail Notty  :worshippy:

On Saturday it was the Beemers turn for a run.  The good lady wife wanted to go to a cafe she's read about.  We had only been out on the K1300 together once before, so this seemed like a good chance to get some more two up time. It would be mostly suburban riding, but the coast road up to Perth is not too bad.  Forecast was for 32 deg so definitely summer gear on.

Quick check of fluid levels and tyre pressures and all good to go.  Easy ride out to Henderson and onto Fremantle, Saturday morning traffic but was flowing ok. I found the K1300 shows its weight when riding in traffic, still getting used to the weight transfer when stopping, timing to get your feet out needs to worked on.  Through the windy bit of Cockburn road, I'm finding the way these bikes handle through corners despite their substantial weight is fantastic, hardly any need to swap cogs, plenty of torque.  Once in Fremantle, the traffic slowed and there was a fair bit of stop start. The panniers meant no lane filtering.

Turning inland up past City Beach to get onto Scarborough Beach Road and our lunch destination arrived soon after.

After lunch decided to head further east through Perth and onto Guildford, then taking Albany highway through to Mundijong then a short blast home via Thomas Road.

Not a huge mileage day, but enjoyable. The report from the pillion seat was positive.  All in all a comfortable ride and a decent lunch to boot.
I try to take one day at a time, however sometimes several days catch up with me at once.
