Villiam3rd

500km in 9 hours today, friend with the 636 turned back home after 150km.

Notty

200 miles today in memory of Paul who drowned trying to save his Labrador - the dog survived
his biker mates ride every year  :)
The older I get the better I was
The problem with retirement is that you cant take a day off

Kiwifruit

Good gathering to remember a friend Notty. Not a bad looking day for a ride .
Another great day on the right side of the grass.😎

Hooli

I think this counts as a successful post service test ride.
The oil leak from the cam cover is cured and I did the Kirkton, Honister, Whinlatter, Hardknott and Wrynose passes in the Lake District during a good 364 miles on my bike today.

Hardknott is the steepest road in England for your convict types, it's a 1in3 at the western side. So that's the side I went up...

KiwiCol

Great ride & pictures Hooli.  Unfortunately the camera will never do justice to gradients, from the pics it looks just like our Porters Pass.
😎  Always looking for the next corner.  😎

Hooli

The other trouble is there's no where to stop on the steepest bits either.

Red Biker

Not doing harknott again as it put a dent in one of my downpipes   :furious:

My helmut cam was pointing too high as well!!!
Many a Donkey has lost its hoof on the rocky road, don't be that Donkey!

Cykik

A mate of Proteus & mine did Hard Knott 2up, hard enough to do solo!!!
Started out with nothing, still got most of it left.

That road up to the Denniston Mine is pretty steep Col. I know you are familiar with it. What do you reckon the gradiant of that is.
How long is Hardknot. I play tennis with a Scotty he seems to think it is also known by another name. Said something about Applecross ?

Quite by chance I found this photo of Sophie and 2 of her mates from a time before I sold her..
Ironically the 2 other bikes have been sold and replaced since this photo was taken October 2018
It was taken in the Trough of Bowland on a small bridge that crosses a stream..
Blime that was just before i sold her !

Hardknott is 1,289ft high & as it's near the coast I reckon it's about a 1,000ft climb on the actual pass.

Applecross is the 'Pass of the cattle' in Scotland, a totally different pass to Hardknott which is in the English Lake District.
