A pan is the nick name for a Honda Pan European - a ST1300
Wreck-it Richard - one of the unDutchables

Hi Tim, welcome back.   Soooo, you prefer the Pan for touring over the 14?  Is it the screen?

Not just the screen. After we decided to retire the 14 from touring we got a 16 year old, 3500 mile Yam FJ1200. To tight for comfort with full luggage so I moved that on and actually made £250 having taken the miles up to 5200. Then got a 1250 Bandit GT (used) which I was very happy to do 15000 mostly touring miles on. At that point my other half said that unless we got something more comfortable she was not going to tour anymore! Bloody blackmailer she is. So we went out and tried some bikes on for size.
Should point out that we are not particularly overweight!
Tried to test a Triumph Trophy but dealer was useless and could not arrange it. FJR would have worked for me but not for her and same with the Kwak 1400. The BMW RT was never in it as I dislike the engine configuration and have seen too many mates with expensive BMW bills.
On dropping into the Honda dealer we got an on the spot test ride on a used bike with full rear luggage on. A deal was offered with an inflated price on the Bandit and tons of free extras. Overall it was the best option by far. By the way I could never go for a so called adventure bike - just my opinion but for me they are ugly brutes and I think you have to like the look of your bikes when you open the garage door.
So now she is very happy to do the miles on the back of the Pan and I am happy to sit in still air at the ton. Have done 400 miles in a day in variable weather and only stopped then as we had pre-booked the hotel. The screen helps but I often have it set at the lowest level.

Honda ST1300 Pan European that is!

I have done some touring with a mate who has an ST1300. He really rates it.
Another great day on the right side of the grass.😎

The ST1300 Pan is like that plain Jane girl you once knew, everybody liked her and knew she had that certain something put could never put their finger on it. After 10000 miles on the Pan I can see what all the fuss is about and why Honda still sell them 15 years after introduction.
The 14 though is faster and more fun of course

Welcome I'm new myself,
Love the colour . Where did you get the cowl & screen ?  :smitten:

The fairing/screen on my bike is a Givi one - been on there 10 years. They stopped selling it a few years ago. They have though just introduced a new one which looks similar so might be worth a look on the Givi website
