So @Hooli  are you still running the LED bulb?  Happy with it? Would you do it again or go some other option?

Yup still running it, no issues & happy with it. I've still got the other one (had to a car kit so got a pair) and if/when this ever fails the other one will go in.

VladTepes

and to clarify - it went into the standard 1400 headlight bucket OK?  Does the ballast sit inside or outside the headlight bucket?

I honestly can't remember, it fitted almost without issue. I had to tweak the wire clamp that retains the lamp unit, as the LED lamp is a slightly different shape & wasn't sitting properly. I'll check the pics I took at the time when home & let you know about the other ballast position.

Hooli

I didn't take a pic of the ballast in place but looking at the size of it & length of wires in the pic I'd say it's inside the headlight bowl.

gsxbarmy

Bulb and ballast are one unit - so will be inside the headlamp bowl
Nothing to do.............all day to do it....I love retirement

@Hooli

Did you manage to refit the rubber boot when you fitted the LED bulb?
I had a quick play with the pair Notty got us..Maybe I wasn't in the right frame of mind, being bunged up with a cold and feeling close to death...
I gave up in the end
Assumption is the mother of all fuck ups!

Hooli

Nope but I've never had a rubber boot on there, it was missing when I got the bike.

gsxbarmy

I'm not sure you'd want to fit the rubber boot anyway Steve, as the LED bulbs have cooling fans inbuilt (or so I believe)

I wanted to fit it as a waterproofing precaution..I'm away for a few days now, but I'll have another look at it when I get home next week.

Yes they will either have cooling fans or big heat sinks. Either way you don't want to restrict the flow of air. You'd need to go underwater before enough of the wet stuff got into the headlight bowl to bother them. Don't worry about the rubber boot just leave it off.  :onya:

I'm thinking of trying this one as a complete replacement.  From my measurements this should fit nicely inside the existing headlight surround.  Has anyone else fitted this ?

Cheers,

I try to take one day at a time, however sometimes several days catch up with me at once.

They have a few inreresting products, I've actually  just bought a little Stedi light bar to try out to give me an indication of their quality. Seems like a lot of people  looking at doing the same thing at once on here
Always remember, safety third.
