So Im finally rebuilding the forks. Ive had issues with the top bush and whether it's in far enough into the recess, and this evening Ive tried to get the new seals in and can't get them down far enough.
So I've had to knock apart one of the stanchions 3 times now to start again with the bush and seal, and now with the bush back in, on one of the forks I can wiggle the stanchion a little bit in the fork leg. There's no movement in the other one.
Need to check if this movement is ok? Have I now knackered the bush from taking the fork apart again?
Thanks everyone.

As you tap the bush down it goes to a clunk rather than ring when it's fully seated.

You won't have hurt the bushes, but how much copper could you see on them? As they wear the black comes off revealing the copper.

Also seals don't like to be removed and refitted, so you might have caused yourself issues there.

Thanks Hooli.
I'll have another go at the bushes, I think I need to get a different seal driver as the one I have hits its limit before the bush is seated.
Dies the bush need to be flush with the top of the recess? At the moment mine are sticking up a few mm and I can't get them down any further.
The bushes were copper on the outside out of the box and the teflon on the inside, they were Pyramid Parts ones. Maybe I could reuse the originals.
I hope the seals arent damaged, they were genuine and a lot of money...I think they got caught in the groove for the retainer clip, I could only get them a few mm into the fork.
I guess if I could give any tips at this point it would be to coat the bushes in fork oil before fitting, they went in a lot easier when putting them back together. I'll do the same thing with the seals before trying to fit them again.

Yeah always coat them in oil.

From memory the bushes sit basically flush in the recess, then a washer on top followed by the seal.
