The thommohawk mod is awesome! Any idea how to get in touch with the man himself? And how much does it cost?
Thanks

I had a quote last year for £130 for just the gear indicator mod.
Keep the rubber side down.          Mick

+1 for @Thommohawk
Even I made similar myself, but I use his idea engineering mine.
It's not very hard, if you know how to work with your hands, know some electronics and know how to program microcontrollers... OK, also write a script for this microcontroller :) ...

Looking at getting one of these. Healtech have 2 models. One seems to be just a gear indicator and one has a "Timing Retard Eliminator" (TRE) ... for performance!

This is the one with TRE:

And the regular one:

The TRE function apparently has 7 modes and can be disabled so am tempted to buy that one. Has anyone tried this feature?

My bike is stock apart from a Staintune slip on so have the standard ECU map.

Thanks guys. I assume you mean with the TRE enabled on the recommended setting for GSX1400? If so, does it make any noticeable positive difference? Thanks for your replies.

Mate, can of worms. My experience it certainly made much smoother first 4 gears. Id never be without indicator, no more 7th gear grabs. Ive never turned it off so dont know diff now. Others have their thoughts but i like mine, permanent addition. Fitted same to mates Rocket 3, totally stopped all backfiring on over run. No more power, not a performance improvement, just smoother around town. I havent ridden a bike last few years as smooth as 14, ive ridden lots. Just do all the other adjusts, throttle cables, TPS, synchro throttle bodies. Mine still amazes me, just so smooth/easy to ride. IMO. Just gotta spend time setting, well worth it.

Nice. Looking forward to it arriving. Timing advance in the lower gears at < 1/2 throttle should benefit it, provided it doesn't cause any detonation under load. I only run 91 in mine so even if you did get pinging on that, you could use 95.

Mate stop stressing, bike will run as normal if you think smoother thats your bonus. No miracles. Any petrol, any throttle,My 1974 GT750 had gear indicator, not sure why not continued.
