They still seem to be holding value. That's more than I paid for mine brand new.

Although tempting, what would you replace it with? There's nothing quite like a GSX out there now.

Nothing else i want so no deal from me. mjgt, you have some other beauties, makes a diffence to yes or no. Ill keep my bike, just cant be bothered changing, learning, fixing something different. I wasnt always like that, loved buying/selling/riding different ones.

I wouldn't get anywhere near that for mine, then, like the B-King there's nothing I'd run out and buy to replace it, so I'd still want another GSX14 !
Lots of new bikes and many are really good, but bikes have gone in a different direction and many of the ones we love don't have a modern equivalent or upgraded version.

In yesterday's ride out to York WA I went with my neighbours son who has just gotten a yam R7 brand new. Thing looks good, but during the day as I rode with him, I was liking my 20yo bike more and more. At the end of the day, he was complaining about his wrists and seat. I was comfy as.

I rode a Honda blackbird a few years ago when I had the Bandit, it had bar risers but still a leaned forward ride but after I rode it I got back on the Bandit and thought the blackbird was a much better bike, the Bandit was soft and squishy compared to the bird, I always wanted one after that so if I end up without the 14 I reckon I might get a bird. They're about as plentiful as the 14 though. The low bars might erk me too?

About 5 years ago I went to have some tests done at a pathology clinic and when I returned to the 1400 someone had left a note with their phone number and an expression of interest in the bike, no $ amount though.

I rode a Honda blackbird a few years ago when I had the Bandit, it had bar risers but still a leaned forward ride but after I rode it I got back on the Bandit and thought the blackbird was a much better bike, the Bandit was soft and squishy compared to the bird, I always wanted one after that so if I end up without the 14 I reckon I might get a bird. They're about as plentiful as the 14 though. The low bars might erk me too?

I'm a huge fan of Sports Tourers, had ZZR11, Blackbird, ZX12R, a few Gen-1 Busa's, H2 SX SE, Gen-3 Busa. Most of them have options to raise or change the bars as it's a popular mod for extra comfort on a bike that offers torque, horsepower, fairing and reasonable comfort.

Blackbird wasn't a bad bike, getting a bit dated now but that has its benefits. I didn't really have a drama with the linked brakes (odd at the time but more common now) but for a premium range bike it should have had adjustable forks and better ground clearance. Down side the B'Birds is as time go's on nice ones get fewer.

Thanks for your reply Tony, boy you've had some bikes mate. Being that I never had a pot to piss in for most of my life I could only wonder, I've had 3 or 4 others in the last 10 years, I have found that you just have to own them to get a good idea how you like em. Always wanted a Busa as well, so many others but as we get older it's damn hard to enjoy the low bar bikes for any decent miles. The Bird though hit a good note for me, I didn't know the forks were un-adjustable nor the ground clearance issues, see, have to own them, thanks again.

Common mod to fit a spacer to raise the rear on B'Birds. Mine was the last of the earlier carb'd bikes, very clean, I had an 04 Busa at the same time and I'm a huge Busa / Suzuki fan so didn't hang onto the B'Bird. Also have a look a ZX12R's, they get overlooked for the ZX14 but the later 12 with the radial brakes is a great bike too.

Personal opinion, but I think Honda dropped the ball with the B'Bird, the Busa continued to evolve and is still getting better and selling after 24 years, the ZX12 got updated, then they offered the ZX14 which evolved too. Honda dropped the Bird and offered a totally different 1200 V4 that few Bird owners ever wanted. The Bird could easily have become a 13 with better running gear and modern electrics... but what do I know.

Yeah, had a few bikes, stopped counting a while back after the first 50. The good side of being a boring b@stard who doesn't drink, smoke or gamble, never had kids and married well. Retirement and a lack of income has pulled me up a bit though! Although...
