Could someone please tell me what the hell a position light is. I needed to take the headlight out & found a connector attached to brown & black/white wires but connected to nothing. The manual tells me it's for a position light ... never heard of one.
If you look like your passport photo then you're too sick to travel.

Pete, that's the wee light bulb in the headlight. (Some headlights don't actually have that fitting there though - Attachment says Aussie don't get that bit of the 14)  From memory it's a bayonet bulb about 3w, it comes on when you turn the key back past off / lock.

I found mine by accident on first day I had a 14.  Turned the key off & went into the ferry building, looked out & saw there was a light going in the headlight!!  & I had they keys!

Think of it as a position light as used on truck n trailers parked on the road at night, small light just to say here I am.

Thanks Col. I thought it was there for that reason but when there was nothing on the headlight to plug in to it had me guessing.

It'll power up with the bike on too, as they are normally the same circuit as the backlight.  You'll see us Brits call it a sidelight sometimes too.

Could be useful as a trigger feed for a relay running accessories on later bikes, I say later as it'd turn off with the lights on a K2.

Tally

Ive Always known it as a parking light,it's used when you park somewhere with poor lighting to illuminate your bikes presence.

Hooli

Aye, like the lights you hung on the side windows of cars years ago - hence some call it a side light.

My bike had no park light. Came home in semi darkness one night, didnt need headlight to see but needed it for others to see me. Low beam had blown, realised i mustve been nearly invisible. Indent was in headlight shell, drilled it out and fitted park light. A bit of backup if it ever happens again.

If you ever find your bike without lights just put on an indicator(kerb side best) as at least then youll be seen till you can get safe and fix it
only a slightly modified gsx1400

didn't know the 1400 has hazard lights?
I try to take one day at a time, however sometimes several days catch up with me at once.

KiwiCol

Mine has hazzard lites but only work with key on, is that normal? Stupid idea if so.

Hooli

Proper 14s, don't have hazard lights, only K3 onwards do.

grog

I like all 14,none of that stuff worries me, not that i use the hazzard lights.
