OK so just got a 07 plate K6 and want to get an Abba sky lift, but it appears they do two different fitting kits, up to 2006 and 2007 onwards, anyone have any experience of this as i thought the difference was purely cosmetic.
I'm gonna get the engine casings powder coated next week and have new gaskets, I'm sure i read that they also need a gasket sealant, if so which one and is it applied to both sides of the gasket, and am i right in thing the casing bolts are aluminium.

cheers guys

Dont know about the abba stand but the frames are the same on all models ( the esrly bike has 2 exhaust cans and so a different stand to later bikes the later bike has a different center stand and single exhaust)
As for powder coat on the casings a very light smear of gasket sealer if you like on the lower have but really only needed around the rubber plugs where the wires go into the casings .
I just use a smear of grease on the gasket faces .
Remember to warm up the bike when you first fit the casings and check the bolts are tight as the powdercoat will go soft when it warms up allowing the the gaskets to leak .
Once youve retightened them all should be good after that .
Also make sure they prepare the outside of the casing before powdercoating (vapour blasting is best but nothing on the inside of the casings or the gasket faces should be touched so tell them to mask it off )or it will fall off.
Good luck
only a slightly modified gsx1400
oh and a standard one too

What Seth says about the Skylift....Buy the year specific fixing kit, it's discounted if you are buying a new lift.
Speak to Abba ( not the group) as your bike is on the cusp, they are most helpful. they don't do a kit for the CX500 but were willing to advise via email re the kit I made myself.
