Bike has been running like shite.
Would not start!
Plugs sooty as!
Pairs removed few years back.
Has newish plugs. Has new fuel pump and filter. Have checked fuel pump and filter it is all together.
Just put in brand new injectors and cleaned plugs.
Wont idle, but will rev, but crackling a lot.
All 4 pipes are hot. Obviously running very rich. Black air coming from exhaust when reved
Have just put Carbtune vac gauges on and no vac showing on gauges. Air filter is out and vac sensor disconnected.
Vac gauges hardly move even when reving.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
This thing is send me nuts.

Just pulled the plugs again and black and sooty again. Run for less than a minute!!

When you removed pairs, I assume you blocked off the covers that house the Reed valves in the rocker cover?

Also check you vacuum hoses from each tb to the solenoid mounted on top of the frame - these can perish.

Have you checked that the TPS and STPS are reading correctly? Have you fiddled with the manual idle adjuster on the lhs just below the tank?

Are you getting wide open throttle when you twist the rh grip all the way and is it snapping back to closed? Check your throttle cables too.
I try to take one day at a time, however sometimes several days catch up with me at once.

BJ, no vac seems to be clue. Id be checking every little vac hose first, to stop manifold vac it has to be sucking elsewhere. Split or popped off maybe.

It must have vacuum to run, so I'd say check your pipe work/gauges.  With my gauges if you turn the dampers down too far on the gauges then they don't register anything.

The MAP sensor on the end of the vacuum pipes needs disconnecting electrically when running the bike with gauges attached, or it won't idle or run at low throttle. The ECU uses that MAP reading for fuelling at low revs/throttle openings.

Or..

Can you steal/beg/borrow a TPS to substitute? I've had a few fail over small sections of throttle position & that screws the fuelling up too. I did find if you move the TPS to ends of it's adjustment you can move the bad running to a different throttle position to show that's the fault.

Both TPS I've had fail have tested fine with a multimeter when off the bike, they seem to play up more with the vibration from a running engine.
