So, my 1400 is a bugger to start, getting gradually worse, sometimes cuts out when cold, tested the battery today and it showed 12v bang on, when i got it started it showed around 12.26v when gently revved, left a few minutes and got to 12.96v the lights go slightly dim when revved too and the clocks re-set themselves every time i start it, so is it the battery or reg/rec on the way out? Any help gratefully accepted. Andy.

I agree, it's your battery.  Be interesting to know how old it is though . .

Try the Yuasa YTX14H-BS - that's the heavy duty version with more CCA (240 compared to 200) of the standard battery.
Nothing to do.............all day to do it....I love retirement

I just replaced my Motobat with a SSB Lithium (see separate post on here).  Bike starts very well indeed now

Blime a CCA of 290 !!!
I would say that company that makes this Lithium battery isnt exactly shy at blowing their own Trumpet !  :imrgreen:

Guessing if you really want the best.https://www.batterystuff.com/batteries/motorcycle/antigravity-atx-12-hd-12v-re-start-lithium-ion-battery-ag-atx12-hd-rs.html

Having on of those 480CCA Antigravity battery installed for some time, and I confirm this is absolutely great. Plus the 4 terminals make installation quite easy and reliable, e.g. 2 for the OEM cabling engine & harness ground and starter, and the the two others for accessories and charger adapter cable.

Couple of yrs ago put $400 lithium in Diavel. Cant remember if Antigravity. Amazing batt, could sit 3 months and always worked. Checked today and is $419 for 14. A lot more than yours Eric, will decide when the time comes. SSB in it at present hanging in perfectly, think it cost $180.

This SSB lithium is the first for me, always had lead-acid.  Funilly enough, haven't started the bike since I've installed it. Still waiting on my pro flow fuel filter so I can complete the external filter mod.

That's $590 in NZ!   Stuff that, I'd just buy 2 or 3 new batteries when they were needed.  $300 - $380, yeah maybe, but not $590.
