FI Light C00 Code

Went out last weekend, first time since fitting individual filters.  After about 15 miles I noticed the FI light on, bike was still running fine but stopped and switched off. Couple of minutes later, restarted and carried on, No FI light for about another 5 miles or so but carried on home when it lit up again. I have only just got round to checking the fault code, am I correct in thinking the system will store the fault code to check at a later date? Anyway connected dealer mode tool and fault shown is C00 which indicates "No fault" I was expecting to see C21 due to relocating the Intake Air Temperature Sensor from the original airbox. If the "fault" persists and continues to only show C00, is there a way to rectify this so the light doesn't keep coming on?

As soon as you switch the ignition off the fault code will be gone.
I fitted a dealer mode switch which I just activate while the engine is still running with the FI light on..It then brings the code up in the display.
Assumption is the mother of all fuck ups!

Take your spare key with you on your next ride, when the FI light comes on remove the seat with your spare key and check the code while the bike is still running and the fault light is on, as Froudy says when you turn the bike off the fault clears and you will get C00 until it fails again.

Ok, so I went out again yesterday for MOT, (sailed through, just the one advisory same as every year, noisy exhaust )  Dealer mode switch on and eventually get the C28 error code, Secondary Throttle Valve Actuator.
Anyone else had this issue?  Bike runs fine, I did all the recommended tests last night the best I could, apart from checking ECM connections. but still none the wiser  :confused1:
I'll do some more tests later and report back, in the meantime I'll keep an eye out for a set of throttle bodies on ebay as this might be a cheaper option than replacing something only to find out it's something else.  If anyone has a set please drop me a pm.

I think @Proteous had the same recently.

In his case it probably the stps,  the secondary throttle position sensor.

Yeah I think I remember reading that, just wondering if it might be worth getting a complete set of throttle bodies with all sensors attached.  There's a set on eBay off a K7, (are K5 the same?) for a sensible price fully tested bearing in mind a new sensor is not much less than the price of these.

Should do, not much changed over the years.

Did you test that the chokes pivot without resistance Ian? It's a simple test to see if the STVA magnets are still intact. From the RHS of the bike reach under the throttle bodies in line with the sensor & you'll find a joining piece of the shaft (see photo). That should move freely with slight spring resistance. If it doesn't then your STVA is the problem & a magnet will need re-gluing.
If you look like your passport photo then you're too sick to travel.

Yep it was I that had the same issue. Last year i had similar issue after my rebuild but it was failing the ignition sweep.. turned out my pod filter jubilee clip was in the way of the little tiny spring screws and JUST catching it causing a delay.. Easy fix problem went away.. This time it started more like your issue.. All riding fine then the FI light came on.. Bike off, bike on, all good again.. for a while.. So, jammeda paper clip  err i mean dealer mode switch in place and it showed C28 or 29 depends how it felt.. Then one day it just ran like shit.. unrideable.. Tested the STVA and sure enough the ohmage was no where near what it was meant to be.. New sensor at Robinsons is 114 quid so i order a set of throttle bodies from ebay for £160 and now im all good again.. Just make sure when you change the sensor that everything is in the right position.. delicatelittle buggers them switches.
So if i do stuff all all day and noone sees me do it.. Am i still a lazy git?
