What's with the margarine container replacing the headlight?
I try to take one day at a time, however sometimes several days catch up with me at once.

As I said, it was crashed when I got it. I'm a fan of the original GSX, the ET's and EX's. I have a couple and a heap of spares. I'm not the first to use the light and cowl on a 14, others have done it including some on here.  It's not to everyone's taste, but the bike cost me $1500 using what I have to put back on the road and I'm happy with it.  I was going to change it but probably won't bother now.

My ET

It was always going to get restored or tidied up but once it got put back on the road it just got used. I have other bikes I'm equally passionate about and this one is a good, fun, reliable ride as it is....

Cool, it works with the bike, I just hadn't seen those ET lights before.

Re the GSX1400 and a bikini fairing, as a young man in the days of the GS1000S Wes Cooley era, the only style of fairing for me had to be the GS1000S.

I was well aware of all the fitting difficulties with trying to mount the GS1000S fairing on to the GSX1400 (I also think the GS1000S fairing is a bit big and bulky - showing its age basically), so I managed to get hold of a slightly smaller secondhand GSX400S Impulse fairing, which I think are quite hard to find.

Apart from fabricating a general mounting bracket (see photo - which took a lot of patience to keep trial fitting after bending and tweaking etc), I only had to make new offset brackets for the two horns (i.e. essentially as standard but offset by about 15 -20mm further back from the front of the bike because the fairing fouled the horns on full lock), and also offset brackets (see photo) to allow the indicators to align correctly with the curved cut outs on the fairing.

I think the GSX400S Impulse fairing has worked out great in terms of fitment and on balance looks just right for the bike.

Oh nearly forgot, I also took the opportunity to get a 7" steel headlamp bowl to fabricate and install a 55W HID Bi-Xenon headlight into it and for the first time in all my 45 years of motorcycling, I have a great headlight.

Posted this before - But love it as not trying to get the effect - it just happened with the camera coming out from the cold into the warm
I need to go somewhere I've not been but won't know until I get there!
