JIS Screwdrivers ?

Isn't there a dot on the head of a JIS bolt? Or is that just on some?

Correct. JIS screws do have a dot on the head to identify them

From memory(which isn't too good these days) there aren't many JIS screws on the GSX1400. The only ones I can think of are the ones that clamp the two parts of the handlebar switch gear together.

The ones that hold the headlight in undo a lot better with JIS drivers, as do the tops of the fluid reservoirs, air filter retainers and others I've probably forgot.

J.i.s screwdrivers work very well in Phillips head I have a set and like hooli says they're perfect for the little screws on the bike as they lock a lot better. Got them off e-bay, not expensive either.

After starting this thread I bought 2 sets. Both identical sets of 4 by Vessel.  I originally bought them to use on JIS screws but having them sat there at hand I do use them on other screws too and haven't had a drama with it. I like them and they work fine.

I'm not sure how much is the fact they are JIS type,  or how much is due to the fact they are new and quality,  or how much is psychological in that I think they are going to be better,  but I'm happy with them. 

I'll remain open minded about them, but they certainly don't seem to be a bad thing to have.

I was removing some internal engine screws from a 1980 Jap bike today, I have always used the bit that comes with the impact kit and I have never had any problems as they are a neat fit. I'll check put which type i used.

PH2, and if you grind the tip a little even better.

I've seen grinding the tip off PH2 suggested as a way to make them fit JIS....

Halfords Impact Set 15Quid. Comes with 1*PH1 2*PH2 1*PH3 1*PH4 plus others as in pic. I ground one of the PH2.
