I think there are a few people here running turbos on their 1400s.
I'd be interested in hearing the pros and cons from real world experience.

I have one and I really like it!
I did it six years ago and it has been ridden 57 000 km's after that. 150 000 km total. Still works great.
It has no breathing and no oil consumption.
It's easy to ride due to good torque band, over 160 nm between 3000 and 9000 rpm, what makes it faster than stock H2's or busas.
Fuel consumption is the same than without turbo, 5.2-9 L/100 km, normally 6-7L/100km

Only bigger problem was that famous "2nd gear issue", but I fixed it with "under cut grinding" to 2nd gear sprockets
and with some busas strengthening parts (same gearbox, same problems)

Theres a lot of variables in running a turbo on a 14 vlad..
What system you have.
What other upgrades you have.
What fuel is available.
Where you live even, hot or cold climate. Altitude. All these things will change how it runs....having said that,my personal experience very positive. As I'm sure you will of read.
I can say off boost if i choose to....which is 90mph in 6th.and save fuel & it runs like any other 14...or..get into the boost range which starts at 4k...and loose your license in seconds...I have after market shocks front and rear, but it handles like it did before the turbo..even though the extra weight at the front is quite a bit ,its low down.
Rear tyres scrub off easy..again depending on how you ride it.fronts last a lifetime.all in all a very nice set up....a normal 14 with a savage kick when you want it.....the one big thing is the cost...not just the turbo and associated bits....you have to run premium fuel...and I'm also changing oil to royal purple , thats another £100+ every 3k. Rear tyres. Front pads and discs go quick too...premium chain & spockets...you cant go cheap or you,ll pay in the long run.......but I love it

What system I have?  Dunno, I'm sure @Teufel can enlighten me :)
What other upgrades you have?  Full Akropovic exhaust, PC3, Stage 1 Yoshi Cams.
What fuel is available?  91, 95, 98RON
Where do I live?  Queensland  :ausflag: so Hot-ish. Sea level-ish

Given that, I have the turbo, and an oil pump - now need to ascertain what other bits I need to obtain etc.

i.e. the process to get it installed and plumbed in. Obviously I'd like to make it as neat as practical
Also would it be possible to powdercoat the body of the turbo black or is that not really an option?

@T 24 @AndyB
I'd appreciate photos of your bikes from both sides/front etc of all the relevant gubbins involved.
@T 24 I'd appreciate more details re the gearbox works you've done and @AndyB did you do similar?

Gearbox works: read the topic "2nd gear issue" from technically speaking -> engine & gearbox.
Black Adder has a very good description & picks. And there is my short writing also.

Not sure what you mean. Image sizes will vary depending on screen size, resolution etc.
In a future forum update, however, there will be a user option to control image size on upload.

I tried to upload many picks, what have "went trough" earlier, but now the same picks are too big size.
My son worked over half an hour with those two last picks until he got them uploaded.
That's why there is only two "project picks".
I'm not a nerd, so I don' know what has changed and when.

Dunno mate. if you can email the to me I'll try and see if i can get to the bottom of it, that way I can hopefully fix the paramaters on the forum to avoid the problem in future.

I'll PM you my email address.  :onya:

I had the exact same issue last week, pictures I've posted before, wouldnt load as they were to big..Mr barmy made them fit for me...since then I've changed the settings on my phone picture size..and that's worked for me so far...you can see all the older photos on here...got absolutely no idea how I link you to it though :whatever:

I actually didnt realize you were thinking of doing one..I thought you were interested in peoples opinions who had done it...
So far mine hasnt developed the 2nd gear issue..and you will definitely not be able to powder coat it...well...you could...but it would last minutes..
I got the same kit as jussi...build quality is good..ie materials / welding.
However I've had issues with the controller which just stopped functioning. The one way check valve after the map sensor seized..and yesterday the tuner said my wastegate actuator is fugged...and the bike ran up to 16psi @6k rpm..on the dyno & he immediately cut it..its supposed to waste at 12psi @ 10k rpm
All these part have had to be replaced .... rather expensively ...its not just a case of bolting on and running it..you,ll pop the engine...it has to be tuned by someone who knows what they are doing....

By default mobile phones take HUGE sized files, too big to upload here or we'd use our space allocation too quickly (and would have to pay a bit more). Options are either to set phone resolution lower, or to resize in a program like irfanview (or anything you prefer) before uploading.
