My 2016 2.4 Hilux. Just on 160 th ks. DPF just a huge PIA, had 5 replaced under wrty. Worked out, compared to Toyota fuel usesage quote, has used just on 14 th dollars of diesel more than they said. 3 timing chains, 3 alternators. Now the display screen beeps all the time, changes stations etc. There are more probs with it, blows clouds of smoke, always idling up trying to clear DPF. Shouldve got a Great Wall, at least you know theyre shit.

Exactly, it's eyes wide open stuff, if you know it's shit you expect it to be shit and don't get let down when it turns to shit.  New Hiluxes, tritone, BT50s all shit, built to a price and not expected to last much beyond 175th kms (7yrs average motoring)
I try to take one day at a time, however sometimes several days catch up with me at once.

I don't use it but I saw a bulleting on the news that it is now rationed in some garages.
Keep the rubber side down.          Mick

but the worst is the build up in the intake tract and the engine internals can lead to premature engine wear and ultimately failure which means more cars to built and more materials into landfill.

@Eric GSX1400K3 Totally agree with the above, one of the biggest problems with Volvo earth moving equipment was/is the venturi blocking causing a total restriction & putting machines into limp mode - usually in the region of £1500 to repair if calling out the main dealers, fortunately not a very technical repair to remove & clean out, it just always seemed to happen on a Friday afternoon or when a fitter was no where near.

Also as mentioned the running temps of engines has risen significantly, which again on its own reduces the life span due to early component failure. I have seen several premature engine failures after approx 4000/6000 hours use which would be between three and four years use resulting in £20K plus repair bills, this alone almost forces you into paying for extended warranties at an average cost of £8K

Mitsubishi Triton block up inlet manifold very quickly. EGR disable fixes it. Illegal but. Ive seen them down to a hole where a pencil just fits. Mongrel job to clean out, Mits just whack new manifold on, not sure what that costs.

Thankfully the grubernment really saw this problem for what it is and pulled the strings to get Indonesia to promise to give Australia 5,000 tonnes of refined urea in January. Our local manufacturer Incitec Pivot was set to close their plant in January (Merry Christmas to all the workers there)

Here is the Con

"AdBlue® is made of a colourless mixture of high-purity urea (32.5%) and deionised water (67.5%), as set out in the ISO 22242 standard. Urea contains ammonia; the active ingredient in AdBlue® that reacts with NOx and neutralises it before it enters the atmosphere."     :frustrated:

I have it on very good authority that plain de mineralised water, although not legal will allow the vehicle to go on it's merry way without harming said vehicle

I've heard so many rumoured alternatives it sounds like the original idea was not grounded on any scientific evidence, like most climate change policies  :furious: :furious: :furious:

Agree, a load of shit, cows piss actually. Earlier versions have a normal tank level sender unit, fill with water, away you go. Later have a reflective light type sender, it shines onto fluid for the level. If you use clear liquid, just sees bottom of tank, wont go. If you use dyed water, sim colour to ad blue, reflects the level, away you go. Its just sprayed into exhaust, no harm done. Illegal but who would know. A Suzuki PAIRS system just done a different way.

You climate change denier you, how dare you !! ........wait till I tell Greta.
Oh that reminds me, why are councils consenting subdivisions barely above the high tide line. Then saying they could be at risk of flooding in the event of a one in a hundred year flood. Certainly makes insurance expensive.
The super wealthy buying a low lying island then spending millions building holiday homes on them while we get to pay a carbon tax......sounds about right :onya:
Another great day on the right side of the grass.😎

They sell housing estates here on one in a hundred year flood plains. Strangely, ive seen 3 of those one in a hundred floods in 47 yrs. 😂😂
