Paul Smart sadly was killed yesterday in a motorcycle accident. Paul lived and worked close to me, one of my heroes when he rode Suzuki's often spent time down at his motorcycle dealership, top guy who had time for everyone and anyone. So sad. RIP Paul and thanks for all the memories

Sad news seams to becoming more common that the good people are passing away .
A consequence of us all getting older .
RIP Paul   :cry2:
only a slightly modified gsx1400

A sad loss of one of motorcycle's real gentlemen,

He was a special guest at the Phillip Island Classic a few years back and was interviewed by Alan Cathcart.

Great stories of his racing career which included the win at Imola 200 on the 750 Ducati,

That's a real shame.  What a legend of the sport.

Just what I was thinking.

I loved Ducati's 'Paul Smart' 1000LE

Sadly I suspect they'll be worth more today than before he died :(

Around 2009, was at my Mates work. He has tow trucks n also a repossesion place. Bloke rode in on perfect Paul Smart. He parked it up, left helmets, jackets etc. Said he couldnt afford any more payments, didnt wanted a classic damaged. Walked away. For 5G i couldve payed it out, been mine. We sure make some life mistakes.

That's a lot of money.

Fark !!!!!  Well, I thought so until i googled and just discovered the Ducati I most love -  1974 750SS (the green frame) are apparently a staggering quarter million buckaroos these days?!

Used to see a few of those at the Italian Bike shows back in the 80s and 90s so they are out there, some people sitting on a nice retirement fund.

My wannahave is a 916 ducati doesn't matter what year. These are now 60-90k and nearly unobtainium, should have bought one 10 years ago...
I try to take one day at a time, however sometimes several days catch up with me at once.

Yes I considered it and opted not too a fair while back - couldn't really justify the expense at the time - hindsight is 20/20 but foresight would have been handier!

Mind you that much for a 916 is still crazy given the numbers produced were MUCH higher than the bikes mentioned earlier.

I think from memory only 140 Green Frames made. 7 were sent to Oz. Bloke up the road has one along with his 13 900 SS Bevels, Yeah, ive seen them. 1996 he was offered 150 for Green Frame. Thats a long time ago, was a Japanese buyer. Value today?

But as an iconic design piece and work of motorcycle art they attract those prices. Saw one on bike sales yesterday, 6km (yes 6) on the odo, never been ridden, bloke want 91500.  Them there's the Senna edition, only limited run made, these are also 60 to 70k.
