20th Year of Registration

Today I've renewed my Queensland Registration for the 20th consecutive year.   

I paid $344.95 

Compulsory Third Party $152
Registration Fee $128.50
Traffic Improvement Fee $64.45

My bike is solo seat registered, so is reduced compared to carrying a pillion. I'm sure when it was first renewed it was about $250.

A very different system to that at the top end of the planet it would seem...

Do you also have to purchase additional insurance to cover damage to your own asset in addition to the compulsory third party insurance?

We pay VED (road tax) at £96 per year, insuarance is arranged by the owner and will vary dependant on risk, my GSX is wrapped in a policy with four other vehicles so it is difficult to isolate the cost, but I reckon it is about £150.00 with comprehensive cover.

One thing is for certain, nothing ever gets chaeper

Well, here in Portugal we´ve the "classics", vehicles with more than 25 years. If they´re certified as classics, by an entity, in good condition, etc; then insurance will become cheaper. Suppose it´s the only thing that gets cheaper; normally other way round.

Compulsory Third Party - covers personal injury to others (this is lower for single seat as no pillion so reduced claim chance)
Registration Fee is just a set fee for registering a motorcycle.
Traffic Improvement Fee is just a weasel word way of saying rego costs haven't changed by much. It's compulsory, it's charged at the same time.

We still need to buy insurance to cover vehicle damage as a separate thing.
can get 3rd party, fire, and theft (covers against damage to other vehicles but not own vehicle. Own vehicle is covered against  fire and theft only)
Comprehensive insurance includes that but also covers own vehicle damage.

So with third party and fully comp it becomes expensive compared to the UK. Anyway chicken feed to a truck driver or should I say "lorry"

That was a very memorable weekend @Irish in Oz we all met plenty of GSX owners that weekend, that's for sure. Ingo and I spent a lot of time in Juan's Cafe.

This was my `old girl` Grog. Bought it in 2009 for £2,500 cash. Standard except for the crappy seat which I eventually replaced with  NOS. Knackered crank seals, hence the price, but after the rebuild she was a cracker. I would have preferred an `M`, but at that price I wasn`t going to argue!
