Just had a definition of classic. Judged over a period of time to be highest quality and outstanding of its time. Bloody good description i thought. So ive owned nearly 100 registered bikes. Not that many in 60 yrs really. Ill put my hand up for a classic. Never ever failed, nothing broke in 100 th ks, kick started first time always. Could rev to its 7k rev redline all day, Never needed oil change. Points and plugs it loved. Balance carbs with fingers in thru air filter. Paint, chrome etc was superb. Comfort non existant. Brakes were good. Fairly sure it still had original chain/sprockets at its end. 6 speed gearbox from memory. Not sure. A true classic. Tell me what it was. Not a 70s or 80s bike. Far ahead of its time

Surely not a Ducati Pantah Mr. Grog ?
I try to take one day at a time, however sometimes several days catch up with me at once.

@grog  it was a 2 stroke, cause you said it never needed an oil change.  That mad kettle of yours?
😎  Always looking for the next corner.  😎

`Never needed an oil change`? :confused1: That beats me grog - but i`ll go for a `60`s Suzuki T20 (Super Six) anyway.... :whistling:

grog

Yeah Mate,1969 T250 Hustler. Gearbox oil did get changed and redline was 8000, just to make correct. Amazing bike.

DP1400

Yea, great bikes :onya:. A mate had a later T 250J Hustler, Blue, i think a '73,  went like the clappers, and like your earlier one, it never missed a beat. Strange how, even back then, the new models introduced each year became more civilized and slower! Thanks America - Not !

It would be interesting to see what kind of GSX1400s are for sale in different countries and what prices people are asking for them. I assume there are sites like our Nettimoto but I just have not found them.

Here is the link to the Finnish site:

P.S. I also used to own a 1971 T250. Very nice bike!

I've have a couple of those 2 stroke things a 65 and 69 T20, my mate thought I was mad when I bought them, he thought the same thing when I acquired a couple of X7's, since then he has changed his mind.

@grog  should bring back some memories

grog

Irish, mine was different. Separate tacho/speedo. A later model but was 1969 model. Pic is exactly it except seat and rack.

Yes that's the other one I have, aluminium clock bracket, I'm sure that bike belonged to a VJMC member in Queensland he is really into them.
Just noticed the Netbikes thats his was for sale a while back.

The 1969 model is the X6.

I thought us in uk started at k2 in 2001,,,anyway ,have a look in two wheel centre at Mansfield,,they will do you a nice 14 at just under 10 grand,I've actually been in and they have sold 2or3 now at 10 grand each

Two Wheel used to be my local shop before we moved, staff are really friendly and knowledgeable in the parts bit. Never bought a bike from them but have always thought them rather pricey

Not doing but just wondering. If a 14 was sent to UK, does it have to have any mods to comply.
