I was in CMC bikes in Newport yesterday and saw a fairly clean K1 up for sale at £6200.  The Engine has been painted, braided hoses, brand new tyres, Hagon S/S shocks and renthals but everything else looked standard including double bazookas.  If it sells at that price I will have to up my insurance on mine.

I did a quote on webuyanybike.com - offered £4k for my K5 with 12000 miles. Yes I know that's a load of bollocks but a grand more than they offered last year  :)
The older I get the better I was
The problem with retirement is that you cant take a day off

Hooli

A K1? really? the Jap only model limited to 120mph?

If someone offered that for my mint(ish), low mileage & cared for K2 I'd consider it.

Mick_J

It has a private plate but the ticket said it's a 2001 registration so I assumed it was a K1.

That's ridiculous when you think about it, in all honesty the 14 is never worth 10K (not unless its showroom and never been ridden).

If they really are achieving 10K then its either people with more cash than sense or they are not saying what they actually sell them for.

Who in their right mind would pay that sort of cash for one?
Nothing to do.............all day to do it....I love retirement

I agree Dave ,,it's not what a bike is worth these days,it's what a person is willing to pay,,

grog

Worth nothing here. In my mind they are a classic, just no one elses.

I totally agree because a Jap bike will never be classic. It's just an old Jap bike. You'd have to be a lunatic to pay proper money for an old Jap heap, even if like 14s they ride quite well.

Irish in Oz

I wouldn't buy one but would gladly sell mine at those prices.

grog

Got offered a good price for mine today. Problem is, its price would buy me nothing i like, not that theres anything i like.

Just had a definition of classic. Judged over a period of time to be highest quality and outstanding of its time. Bloody good description i thought. So ive owned nearly 100 registered bikes. Not that many in 60 yrs really. Ill put my hand up for a classic. Never ever failed, nothing broke in 100 th ks, kick started first time always. Could rev to its 7k rev redline all day, Never needed oil change. Points and plugs it loved. Balance carbs with fingers in thru air filter. Paint, chrome etc was superb. Comfort non existant. Brakes were good. Fairly sure it still had original chain/sprockets at its end. 6 speed gearbox from memory. Not sure. A true classic. Tell me what it was. Not a 70s or 80s bike. Far ahead of its time
