High pressure fuel filter cleaning

I've seen several post in various places about high pressure fuel filter cleaning or problems .
Now in 7 bikes and several 100k miles over those bikes I've only had 1 problem (bad fuel in italy and making tape from a respray both at the same time) and several good sprays of carb cleaner sorted it .
Has anyone tried an ultrasonic cleaner on the high pressure filter or has soaking it in carb cleaner or anything else for a time (over night or the likes) thats helped .

Just reverse flush with a quality carb cleaner as advised on here has worked for me Seth, only had to do it once in the last 5 years, but i think our climate here is much milder than in the  UK in terms of temperature variatuons and so condensation issues in the tank.

Ive also found getting fuel from servos with high turnover prevents contamination.

Not tried ultrasonic cleaning, would be worth a shot
I try to take one day at a time, however sometimes several days catch up with me at once.

I do the same as you once a year just to keep on top of things .

Snapey

Drill a hole, fit an external filter, end of problems.
If you look like your passport photo then you're too sick to travel.

They dont understand Snapey. Just crosses off that problem.

I've always preferred to avoid the external filter option, just in case I get issues when touring. It's easier to get standard parts than remember where I bought custom stuff to get going again.

That might apply to electrical parts Hooli but with the external filter you've eliminated one of the main faults in the fuel system. The things that will fail in the fuel pump are the pump itself, the tea bag and pressure regulator which are all readily available from Suzuki. The part that won't fail is the external filter that can be quickly cleaned without having to remove the tank.

Having an accessible easily cleaned filter over one that needs to be removed from the tank for back flushing is a no brainer to me ... and probably all who've done the modification.

I see the logic, but knowing my luck the bit that sticks* into the filter to take the fuel to the external filter would fail.

*I can't remember if it's screwed, glued or what.
