HI
Apologies if this request gets posted in the wrong area but... Is it ok to power a tomtom 400 rider from the headlight day running light circuit within the headlight bowl?

Thats it, simple just like a 1400.

Thanks
Noddy

Noddy I just changed the post to remove the prefix  (those are for instructional threads). I also took the liberty of adjusting the title to hopefully attract a bit more relevant attention.

I don't know the answer to your question directly. It would depend on how much draw is already on that circuit, and whether it can handle the additional load.

The best way to run power to these type of accessories is either direct (as per my Garmin thread) or via a relay as per the thread barmy posted here: http://gsx1400owners.org/forum_test/index.php?topic=428.0

I mounted tail light controlled extra relay (and fuse) to feed my electric toys. This is how I can be sure, that I dont mess up or oroverload bikes own electrics. Not a big job.

Personally I wouldn't Noddy - however you can take the power off the orange wire from the ignition switch wiring in the headlamp bowl, that is a switched live
Nothing to do.............all day to do it....I love retirement

Thanks Vlad for the redirection of my post and those offering advice. In spite the very low sat nav current draw on a 5A fuse I'll look for that orange cable.
Hope to add rides and images in time.
