first thing check the pressure had to drop the fronts down to 33 psi rears were fine at 41- 42 psi  also fitted new 90 degree valves so little bit hard to get a precise reading from gauge at the right angle without loosing to much air and fuel gauge was on 4 bars

just done 80km very nice the bike handles and turns better they are very  quiet as i have read on reviews and had to take tight corners slow and easy

had do a hard braking when set of traffic light with red light camera change in a 80km speed limit i was around 50 meters away so there got good grip about 15 ks in the trip so the tyres would have been warmed

my new rear brakes rotor pads from metal gear were very good and even the fronts with old 8 year old pads even the handle has got better feel the mechanic did check all bearings including the steering and a road test  said there all fine i even ask about changing the oil in the forks he said unless there leaking he couldn t fault them

KiwiCol

Good report there, but 33 in the front?   I'd of thought 36 minimum, to 38.  But hey, if 33 is working for you, then why not.
😎  Always looking for the next corner.  😎

Same thoughts Col. Angels on mine for a long time. 36 in front.  if im slack, gets down to 34,i can tell a bit squirmy. Maybe diff with Metzler. Mate whos ex track rider reckons i run too much. 32/36 his opinion. Wait for Sticks opinion.

shit i better put some more air in than dont know where i got that lower psi from but it nearly had 40 from the tyre shop but i dont know accurate the tyre pressure gauge is its the pencil type had a long time
what tyre gauge to buy https://www.supercheapauto.com.au/4wd-outdoors/tyre-care/tyre-gauges

Stick, i reckon that $14 clearance would work well. Got good reviews from Choice. I have similar plus a few other digitals. All seem very accurate comparing to expensive Snap On at work. My fave is my digital inflator, connects to air line. $35 chinese copy of Snap On. Depends wether you want gauge or inflator/ gauge.

I have the Roadtec 01's (not the SE) on my BMW R1250GS, super tyre, really rate it, the only difference between mine and the SE (I believe) is that you get slightly quicker turn-in on the SE's, so given they are the newer ones out, that's what I'll be fitting next time.

I'd rate these as good as the Michelin PR5's I've used previously, if anything slightly better wear.
Nothing to do.............all day to do it....I love retirement

thanks grog i call in to sca get that one and  what you said when the  pressures are low they handle like a pig these metzelers are new to me last to 2 sets have been pirelli st gt over the last 10 years
i have a play with the pressures anyway i couldn t fault the way the 14 handle today it was very precise

grog

Mate, just play with pressures until you find what you like/feel what works. Ive had Angels now, maybe 8 yrs. Guess i could experiment with pressures, think i did that early on, hard to remember. Ive never changed from 36/38. Tyres grip, last forever. 23,400 from last rear. 19 from front.

I'm keen to put a set of Metzeler 01 SE's on as my Road 5's are squaring up a bit now.
Dilema......   :confused1:  Metzelers $680pr
Michelin 5's $520 pr.
Another great day on the right side of the grass.😎

I also got Metzeler 01 SE's and am very happy with them so far. Haven't given it a thrashing in the hills yet but have done a few laps of them. I'm running 36F/40R pressures.

@Kiwifruit you ought to be able top pick up a set of Metzeler 01  (non-SE) for cheaper and they are apparently very good also.

the old tyres still had life in them at least 5000ks but i did get a puncture in the rear early last year and that was on my mind and they been on 6 years plus i get the brakes fitted at the same time also that $813 included 73.99 gst

as for the valves i brought those a couple months ago after reading somebody on here fitted them  La Corsa Tubeless Valve Stem - Black - 11.3mm (Pair)

kf no thats to much difference $160 i be going road 5

grog

Col just had a look. $495 delivered for Metzler. Just fitting required. Usually if i take that price to local bloke, he matches and fits for same.

stick3

this morning  i connected the tyre inflator with digital gauge from jamec pem to the compressor and check the tyres front was 36.3 and rear was 38 pump it to 42 so no wonder it handle like
normal
done some more ks to day the confidence is growing when cornering and i brought that digital tyre gauge from sca grog told me to get and i check it on the ute tyres it said 37 psi and did put 36 .3  so thats pretty close

Might see if the wholesaler will tell me of a retailer who sells a lot of their tyres. They might offer a better price. Seems like the shops near me push just one brand. Mainly Michelin or Bridgestone.
It would appear that the Chinese govt own Pirelli and Metzeler as they own the Chinese National Chemical Company that produces those tyres
Another great day on the right side of the grass.😎
