Looks like my new battery has given up .
Very sluggish starting and clock resting after it does start.
I've checked all the normal stuff plugs, connectors and switches .
Runs great just slow starting .
Put in the spare 15 year old battery fires right up no hassle or hesitation.
The battery is a yuasa and  just over the year for the warranty.
The bike ran less last year than it ever has and stood longer than it normally would but not much more than before .
Can batteries be so much more rubbish than years ago ?
I'm going to run the bike with emma's battery to double check it's not the bike .
Anyone else got any ideas on what to else up check ?

I would go for warranty myself being so close to the twelve months

There again put it on an optimate and it could well come good,

It's on the opimate now and I'll be visiting Halfords in the morning .

Not of good news today
Took the 15month old battery back to Halfords in Perth Scotland this morning and much to my surprise they are going to replace it .
New one should be here on Friday.
Hopefully all will be ok after that .

Its worth noting @seth  that Yuasa do a heavy duty version of the YTX14-BS battery - aptly named YTX14H-BS - I've recently put one in my BMW GS and find it spins over about 15-20% quicker and seems to charge a bit easier - certainly it works a bit better on colder mornings.
Nothing to do.............all day to do it....I love retirement

A replacement is a result Seth. Just make sure that they give you a NEW warranty and not backdate it to the original (faulty) battery purchase date. Sometimes this happens with replacement goods.

Sure its not the generator and rectifier playing up and draining the battery?
I try to take one day at a time, however sometimes several days catch up with me at once.

DP, in Oz wrty on replacement item is either until end of original wrty or 6 months, whichever is longer. Aust consumer law.

seth

The Halfords warranty is only a year from date of purchase but as it's only a couple months over they are still replacing it .
