Hi Cardeas here and this is my first post with the assistance of VladTepes. After upgrading my 2006 GSX1400's rear suspension to red spring YSS units(to keep the basic look of the original units) from "Suspensions r us" in Seaford, Victoria, Australia last year and finding them to a substantial improvement, I asked the owner, Izzy, if there was anything that could be done for the front suspension which would further improve on the progressive springs from Wilbers I had installed some time ago.

He said that while there was nothing available off the shelf to fit, he would enquire with Nitron in the UK to see if they would look at producing bespoke caps and the cartridge/spring units to fit the GSX1400. Izzy sent detailed drawings to Nitron and fortunately for me they said that yes, they would be able to make these up.

Now with the vagaries of living in a Covid 19 world, it did take some time for all this to be done - nearly 8 weeks but the wait has been worth it! After being set up by Izzy the front has similar firmness to the Wilbers progressive spring standard units BUT they are significantly more compliant and give a smoother, more forgiving but at the same time, more controlled ride. No downsides whatsoever and those caps look super cool to me!  It has taken my GSX1400  to another level of suspension performance and control that is truly confidence inspiring!

While I had to wait some time, for Australian customers Nitron Australia now has this upgrade in their listings so now anyone who wants to upgrade their front suspension while maintaining the original external look and the standard geometry can now do so. Anyone in the UK and elsewhere in Europe can, I guess now contact Nitron also to get similar work done.

I found Izzy at Suspensions r us great to work with on this and he kept me updated on how things were going and had the bike ready for pick up the day the units arrived from the UK. Obviously he also set up all the suspension based on my weight. Excellent customer service that I highly recommend. I am just a customer and GSX1400 enthusiast - I have had three of these wonderful bikes - and have no ties to Suspensions r us.

I hope this has been of interest to other members looking for a really worthwhile upgrade.  :)

Yes grog, they are brilliant!

I have not mentioned the pricing but the cost, including fork disassembly and re assembly with new seals and fork oil plus set up to my weight was A$1800.

So about A$1400 for the cartridges/caps which I think is excellent value!

With the YSS rear suspension units at $1200 it was $3000 for a substantial suspension upgrade.

Well done that man!   That's awesome news.    Now where did I leave my wallet . . .?
😎  Always looking for the next corner.  😎

I love it. My wife would kill me, and neither can I afford it realistically but... that'd be great.  :onya: :onya: :onya: :onya:

It certainly looks very professional too.

Best allrounder I've ever owned 👍

Hooli

Is that compression adjustment on one fork & rebound on the other?

How does that work?

Cardeas

Hi Hooli, yes that is correct. Here is the description on the Nitron web side for the 22mm TVT which is used on the GSX1400.

Nitron Tri-Valve Technology TVT Fork Cartridge System features a large 22mm piston which provides significant improvements in performance over the OEM set up and ensures consistency during prolonged periods of use.

All vital components are hard anodised and developed and tested in conjunction with some of the world's leading race teams. Designed primarily for smaller engine capacity sportsbikes and now used on most damper rod conventional forks and smaller diameter upside down forks.

The 22mm Nitron TVT cartridges feature  independent adjustment control of Spring Preload, rebound and compression damping which are all easy to use and extremely effective. The damping control system consists of an adjustable compression cartridge (Left) and an adjustable rebound cartridge (Right). Both offer independent damping and pre-load adjustment via the uniquely styled fork top caps.

A key feature of the TVT Fork Cartridge Kit is the third, high speed damping valve incorporated into the compression cartridge. The valve is pre-set to react to high-speed, hard edge bumps which normally unsettle a well damped set up especially when combined with hard braking and cornering forces. All three valve pistons can be quickly and easily removed for re-valving without the need to remove the forks from the bike, keeping workshop time to a minimum and meaning trackside changes and set-up can be done with ease!

In motorsport, SuperBike riders have praised the ability of the TVT cartridges as they have felt confidence increase to new levels and lap times tumble. Probably just as impressive as the on track ability is just how adaptable the Tri-Valve Technology is for road use, giving all levels of rider the confidence to make adjustments to achieve a more usable and more capable bike.

Standard Specifications:

Large Bore 22mm Piston
Independent Rebound, Compression and Pre-Load Damping Adjustment
Unique Nitron Design fork caps
(TVT) high speed damping valve in the compression cartridge
Easy Piston removal for trackside revalving and set up changes with ease
Hard anodised components for extended longevity of parts

Interesting, so if they feel as good as you say it proves a 14 doesn't need a fork brace as each fork is doing a different job.

SFC1000

Marzocchi M1R forks from the 80's as used on Guzzi's, Dukes and Lav's used rebound in one and compression in the other and were a really nice front end. I'd say better than some of the present factory offerings now and including my standard K4 front end.
CAUTION - My forum posts may be worth what you paid for them!

The one that sprung to mind for me was Pan Euros with damping on one fork & anti-dive on t'other.

Nice thing  :onya:

I am waiting for Race Tech Gold Valve Kit (Compression and rebound). Want to stay in classic look of front suspension but OEM regulation is poor...
On rear In my GSX there are MUPO Shocks - after 5.000 km and a lot of regulations track/street etc I can recommended them in all way
