Black bikes are slower so black brakes stop quicker?

Just a quick question, I also have just refurbished my brakes and I need to know does that little rubber washer that sits between the caliper have a right and wrong way of sitting in its recess. Many thanks in advance.

I never payed atention of that, it looks the same on both sides. It never leaked and I refurbished at least calipers on 10 different bikes in last 2 years

As long as it's seated it doesn't matter. I've used a round one (rather than square section) in one of mine for years as I lost the original. It's designed to crush & seal, so it's not a precision part.
