Hi all.

First proper post. I am now the proud owner of the beautiful 14 that was so lovingly and cleverly modded and cared for by forum member Yoda.

I'm looking too upgrade my tools and am starting with sockets. Any thoughts / handy suggestions or 14 specific doohickeys I should look at?

Also any recommendations for aq decent quality, if not snap-on bank bracingly expensive, socket set. Ideally I would like one that has hex bits but of course I can add them. Looked at some tent sets which seem decent.

All advice much appreciated in a advance.

Cheers,

Sully

Welcome to the world of 14 Sully
I hope your bike is in good nick as you may need this.......
The under-seat storage is big but you might have trouble getting this into it!
I need to go somewhere I've not been but won't know until I get there!

Hi Sully, Welcome to a fantastic forum and the best big bike in the Universe🤗

I am sure you will get a serious amount of socket set referrals but for what it's worth I can't recommend Bahco Socket Sets highly enough. They are fabulous quality and will hold their own against any of the very high end sets but at very reasonable prices. Make sure you search the internet and you will find some great offers, well at least I did. I now have 3 sets, 1/2 inch, 3/8 inch and 1/4 inch. Most sets include the hex bits as well. Very importantly in my experience the sockets are hexagonal so fit nuts and bolts perfectly.

Hi Sully & welcome to the forum.  :onya:   Don't forget to acquire some JIS screwdrivers as well.   (I'm not mentioning Oil, Filters, Tyres :whistling:)
😎  Always looking for the next corner.  😎

Halfords Pro works for me, they'll replace them if you break them too.

I'll second the JIS screwdrivers as well. It's a type, like phillips or pozidrive.

Welcome along Sully. Enjoy your new ride
Another great day on the right side of the grass.😎

Big Phil

Great advice that. You will definitely end up stripping the head of a Suzuki screw without the JIS screwdrivers.

To all things 1402
So you hot Allan's bike it's a cracker right enough .
Where are you at ?

I'd recommend getting yourself a Halfords professional socket set and screwdriver set and Allen keys both keys and ones that fit your socket set
As a start
A set of JIS screwdrivers for any screws marked with a dot on the face as said normal ones just chew them up.
A hide hammer and a normal hammer .
Set of pliers.
And build up other bits as required I've been building my tools for nearly 40 years still see things that are useful .

Good luck and when we can enjoy the bike.

I try to take one day at a time, however sometimes several days catch up with me at once.

I had a Snap-on Franchise for 7 years and squirreled some tools and a box away over the time LOL.  :rofl2: :rofl2:

Not that I can actually do more than oil changes etc.  :stir: :stir:

Hey Kingi I see the hammer and pry bar draw is open so you obviously been working on something delicate   :stir:

Welcome to the forum Sully  :onya: I don't think you can go wrong with the Halfords pro set, it has a lifetime warranty.  Another place to consider is Lidl, when they have socket sets in they are cheap enough but good quality and are wall drive (which I prefer) so might be an option.  Don't forget to look at a decent torque wrench as well.
Keep the rubber side down.          Mick

True that, I've got some lidl (parkside) tools & can't fault them.

Halfords Advanced is pretty good - keep an eye on their website for special deals.
There's also quite a bit brand new on Ebay for pretty good prices - I assume it's Halfords staff making the most of their staff discount  :smile2:
