Painting the cam cover.

Hi everyone how are you all.  Hope you had a safe and happy Christmas.  As we are now in a Covid Tier 4 area, I thought I'd take advantage of not being able to use the bike to sort out the manky cam cover.  I did repaint it some years ago after getting it vapour blasted clean.  I used a VHT paint.  However its flaked off and looking real bad.  I've now stripped it back to bare alloy but I am in a quandary as to how to paint it.
Should I use high temp engine paint - or could I use a normal auto primer and top coat to get a better more resilient finish.
My thinking behind it is that the cam cover doesn't really get that hot does it?
So - I would like to hear if anyone has tried the auto paint route before, and was it successful?

I did mine a few years ago now - I painted it in a single pack base coat and then 2K clear using spray gun - was all black except the ends that I polished - not had any issues with it so far except a few areas where the gasket meets the cover and had some flaking there

That's basically a normal paint rather than a high temperature paint - so it 1-0 to auto paint at the moment!

Whatever top coat you decide to use make sure you use an etch primer on the clean and bare metal first.
