Hi, when I bought my bike it only came with 1 key. There is a company on ebay selling genuine suzuki blanks for £24.99. Does anybody know if that is a fair price, and if I bought 1 is there anything I have to do to the key once I have it, apart from getting it cut. I have a k3. Any info would be much appreciated 👍

Hooli

K3 you're fine with just getting it cut.

K5 onwards would need programming as they got a immobiliser.

Duncan

Cheers hooli. Is £25 about right price wise?

Hooli

Not a clue, I've still got all three original keys for mine. I'd pop in a locksmith & just one of their blanks, does it matter if it's not original?

The barrels on these wear before the key btw, as the sliders in the barrel are brass so softer than the keys.

K3 just go to your local key cutting place and get them to copy it dead easy .
Much more complicated with a k5 onwards as @Hooli says

Local locksmith made a new key to my K2.  8€.
Old locks work better with a new key.

My local locksmith i use for work. He has a scanner machine, codes , checks codes. He reckons a fair chance he can make me a new one for K7. Immobiliser type key. Will keep you informed. As far as just cutting new key to original, without immobiliser, easy.

Irish in Oz

The last immobiliser key I got cut and programmed was about 3 years ago in Oz, it cost $125. The local locksmith did it, he had two machines an expensive one and a cheap chinese one, the cheapy was the one that was able to read it. He had a box with about 4 different types of chips to put in the plastic part of the key.

Hello Duncan, was at Skirlihgton Market other week and key man there said he could do my K4  key for £5 , so a local cobbler key place should be around the same price

Duncan

Hi gsxking. What kind of intro should I be putting? I've posted on here before, and introduced myself when I was accepted.

My local locksmith is making me a duplicate key as I have only one key for my K7 . He placed it in a code reader and said yes he can do it . The downside is that he didn't have a correct blank and I am waiting for a call for when he does . £75 all in .

I'm fairly sure that I paid £25 for a genuine blank non chip key, then £5 in an old style key shop to get it cut. Timpsons refused to cut a customers own key has to be one of their own blanks  :jack:
