So I picked up the bike on Saturday from the transporters.  Beautiful red and black 05.
Took it for a spin up the road while the every patient wife got photos, dispensed advice,  and looked on.  I had a small dread that I would not be impressed with the new arrival that it was ether going to be not at all like the memories due to ether a different set up, miss treatment, or worse still, rose coloured memories!
All I can say is that this was a good call to come back to a 14, as this felt as good as it did all those years ago.

I had amongst other bikes tested a Yammy XJR13, and even though the bikes are of the same ilk, the GSX out performed in all areas, and I am glad that I did not go down that road.

I have had it out for a couple of runs, and I can feel my skills have rusted some over the years, and that I am still pushing my comfort levels with speed and tight slow maneuvering, but I am working on both and will soon feel more sure out on more advanced roads.  Once again, it is all just sharpening up the skills.

Who ever had it before me must have been of the same size/weight as I am yet to detect issues with the set up!  With the 14 being able to be so well adjusted and balanced, this is a real god send as it took me a while to get the suspension dialed in, and back then I did not write down my settings.   As I gain confidence and skills back, and push the bike, I am sure that I will come across flat spots in the set up and will get to fine tune the suspension again (and this time write it all down).

Gave the bike it's first bit of love and gave it an oil change,   WOW, the old oil was black, still liquid, but not as clean as I would like to see it!!   I did miss not having the centre stand when working on the bike.
I will also post some picks of the underside to seek your ageless wisdoms in regards to being able to install one. (a big thanks to all who have already given me some great advise on this  :notworthy:)

I will post some pics of the bike with the new bling from my old Grey Ghost.

She's a beut! Welcome back.

To touch up your riding skills again check out MotoJitsu on YouTube. He's got some great tips and advice on how to ride safely and with confidence and some excellent drills to practice.

Here's a link to his video playlists. Most are pretty short, all are super enjoyable. He's a fantastic teacher as you'll see. He helped me tremendously and when I ride I have him in my head talking me through all the situations I come across.

P.S. Check your tyre pressures! I didn't and started riding with almost flat tyres. Didn't get far.

The oil never looks clean on these even after a change once they have a few miles on them. A change & filter is 4.5ltrs & the bike holds 5.7ltrs so you never get it all out.

Those pictures just remind me of how fast and handsome the blue and white ones are🤗
