Some time ago, my little brother decided to upsticks and relocate to France.
He left his Fireblade at my house with instructions to look after it for a while!!
Lol

After 3 years he's just contacted me to sell it, the only sticking point is that during the lockdown it ran out of tax. Now he asked me to SORN it then but i dont have the V5  its disappeared into the ether! Again it needs selling he says.. but little bro i dont have the V5 so how can i sell it or SORN it?
Does anybody know how i can do both of these with any documents?
Thanks. ( and if anybody wants a clean early carb model fireblade?)

Here's a link Shiney but be aware my mate has waited 16 weeks for his and it still hasn't turned up! May have just been unlucky though, who knows🙄

I`m pretty sure you can SORN it provided you have the V11 tax reminder. You just quote the number on it, on the on-line form.

Also, i think you can sell a vehicle without a `log book`, assuming the buyer is an idiot! You won`t get as much for it though....

Big Phil

I think your absolutely correct that you can sell a vehicle without the log book. The problem you face however is that any offences that occur such as speeding and parking come back to you as the registered owner. It is then (I maybe wrong) your responsibility to prove who was driving or you get the points and fine.

Just be aware that if you do get a new log book they might pursue you (your mate) for the back tax as its not been on a sorn for 3 years.

Whatever you decide to do, do it online. If you apply for a new V5C by post it'll take weeks to come through. Doing it online will take about a week.
