Hooli, at that speed, around 5k revs, motor would just love rich mixture. You must have a sensor not reading correctly. IMO.

Close, I found it not long after typing that.

Every damn plug lead was loose in the plug caps, I've trimmed them & screwed them back on so they feel solid. Should I be gluing them with anything as well though?

Tally

I went to Cornwall this weekend, so I filled the tank to the brim, set the trip meter to zero and found that at 70mph on motorway I got 55miles till the 1st bar dropped, then 45 miles for each bar afterwards and that was with the bike loaded with a kitbag on the back so not too bad I think.

@BlueDragon  Sure, BUT while the figure may not be precisely correct its still useful as a comparative figure - and I'm using 2l/100kms more than most others.

Steve, you being a Ducati man. Mid 80s i modded my Darmah motor. Balanced . ported, Teflon pistons, carbs 32 out to 42 Malossi
kit in Dellortos.  42mm inlet valves. Steel/alloy plate clutch, lots of other bits. So much more power, lasted 80 th k and still going strong when sold. Fuel average went from 40mpg to nearly 50. Always amazed me. Bigger carbs/valves were supposed to also decrease low down grunt, make it peaky. Total opposite. Just a nice bike to ride, could leave a 900ss in its tracks. I guess $5 g was a lot to spend in 1985 but leaves great memories. My equal favourite bike with 14.

Yea, nothing quite like a breathed on bevel, 851 is the same and worked better everywhere, got mine up to 115 rwhp from the 85 it left the factory with. Suzuki possibly start closer to the mark than Ducati do

Today i checked odometer to GPS. Did exactly 100ks on GPS, bike read 99.9. Closer than i thought it would be. Speed is a bit different. 100ks on GPs is about 106 on speedo.

Hooli

Sounds about right, as standard the mileage tends to be bang on & the speedo 7-8% high.
