5.1 to 6.2 liter/100 km depending on ... (NO Autobahn).

Hooli

Time of year is needed too.

Those of us who never bother to block off part of the oil cooler always get worse MPG in winter. I lose anything upto 5mpg in cold weather, less on long trips where it manages to get nearly warm.

Let's kick this into gear again.

Just out of interest wondering what fuel usage stats people are getting.

No need to go into any great detail - just interested in what the range is.

I've been using around 7.5 L / 100kms of late - almost entirely commuting.

around 5ltrs per 100k  100 k round trip , city, freeway and finishing every day with a bit of a blast up  Mt. Dandenong around 300k when the guage starts flashing

KiwiCol

The Yoshi cam & Akro must be stealing your fuel Mike, that's a bit heavy.  I'll look tonight & see what I get. Pretty sure it's around 5.5L/100km

Mine is 5.5 L/100. Overall ave.

Well I don't think (from what I have heard) that the Yoshi stage 1 cams make much difference to anything down low in the rev range, and that's where the bike spends the vast majority of its time.

Yeah I reckon it's pretty dramatic too it's like 50% higher than I once got (and what you fellas seem to be getting).  :confused1:

If it's the Yoshi cams (or rather the PC3 map that goes with them) that's fine I just want to be sure there's not something else at play that needs 'sorting'

I just converted my average mpg to litre per 100km...Approx 5 litres per 100km. That was nearly all very fast motorway riding too.
Assumption is the mother of all fuck ups!

KiwiCol

Just checked, overall average for the blue is 5.68L/100Km.   So, sounds like 5 - 6L/100K is pretty much normal. 7+L/100 for commuting does sound high, spend a lot of time idling at lights maybe?

Mine has been thirsty for the last year or so & I've not worked out why yet as it seems to run fine.

I get about 140-150miles before reserve, it used to be 160-180 ridden the same. It was down to 120 but tweaking the STPS helped.

KiwiCol

That'll be just you ragging it more than previously  :onya:

Would the types of tyres and oil you use make a difference.

Not forgetting the aftermarket air cleaner with the narrow inlet & the more prevalent head winds due to global warming . . .

Could be the chain with seized links creating drag too.

Good point Col about the chain, better again take the O rings out of it and you have a lot less friction.

KiwiCol

What would be a recommended lube for a chain that's had the "O" or "X" rings removed?      Penetrating oil works well I've found.
