That's a pretty reasonable price for a complete replacement seat (including base).

If you want your seat lowered rather than purchase a complete new one (as per the Viper seat from Just Bandits) then consider taking your existing seat to a seat recoverer and have it remodelled to your own design. May be cheaper, may be more expensive depends what you choose to have done. Tony Archer, Viking are just a couple that I could recommend, there are more - depends where you live.

Finally, it would be nice if, given the above is your first post, you could introduce yourself in the "Introductions" section, maybe post a picture of your bike and tell us a bit more about yourself. Thanks

Went for a bit of an extended ride yesterday (about an hour) and sore bum syndrome started to set in and I found myself shifting my position at the lights looking for a more comfortable position (if there was one - there wasn't). I can imagine it'd only get worse on a longer trip. It could be the seat (although it looks to be in excellent condition and the bike's only done about 40,000km) but it's probably because I haven't ridden for over 1,000 years and I have to grow a tough bum.

Regardless, are any custom comfy seats available or even made in Australia by any chance or am I looking to buy from UK or a "top celery" from France? Also, could it be the foam has just collapsed? It looks and feels "normal" whatever that is.

Was really hoping https://www.luimoto.com/ had something for the 14 but no. Has anyone had any luck with a local car upholsterer? I know one and will ask him but I'm guessing some thought has gone into the custom seat designs where as a local upholsterer would be guessing about design or trying to copy from pics.

They become super comfy with a bit of mod. Mine is best ive ever had and as posted b4, sheepskin for longer days.

If the seats okay it's just your saggy arse that needs toughening up, get yourself down the blue oyster club, the lads down there will help.  :whistling:
Keep the rubber side down.          Mick

That's the style I had in mind but am also wondering if maybe all it needs is fresh or better foams. I do like the diamond stitching I've seen on a few. Harkens back to older times which I like. I'm a bit surprised being just a 40,000km bike. Might check in at the local upholsterer and see what he says.

Best thing you can fit for comfort is gel pads - any decent upholsterer can supply and fit

I was JUST reading about them and associated horror stories of people using the wrong type of gel pad including fires!...lol But they sound like a good idea. Comfy bum is good.

This is just a very small sample of gel packs ( medical packs ) that we have ripped out of seats. Our customers have asked us to change them to GELASTIC PADS as they were not happy with the comfort, as well as them FREEZING in the winter & MELTING in the summer. We have heard of stories of motorbikes going up in FLAMES as the packs have melted through the seat & onto the engine.

Find an upholsterer that fits medical grade Gel pads - they are the best and not a problem. Tony Archer (Huddresfield), Viking Motorcycle Seats (Sevenoaks) I've used in the past for them and had a top job done

I'd recommend Grizzley Adams. He did my seat for me a while before I sold the bike. Superb job done :onya:

Drop him an email.

Never had gel inserts but never thought of melting and firing up. Things you learn.

I fitted a medical gel pad myself works great.
