Has anyone tried or have any experience with the universal ebay motorcycle switches?
Like this: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/12V-7-8-Motorcycle-Handlebar-Turn-Signal-Electrical-Start-Control-Switch/353114997307?hash=item52374b423b:g:DmIAAOSw7Rle8G1y

My starter switch is being a bit strange atm where you need to press it a few times before the bike will start, and also the blinker switch sometimes doesnt work (like today when I went for a roadworthy )

But is it the switch or the starter relay? You may end up replacing something which isn't faulty.

Andre

Seeing the already disappearing symbols on these switches I wonder about the "quality" inside.

Yep, check the starter relay first.

Is the Blinker switch failing mechanically or electrically? For mechanical fail taking it apart, cleaning and greasing the mechanism may do miracles. Same goes for starter switch.

As always: a good cleaning of the connectors helps with electrical  problems in many cases.

Im assuming it is the switch, honestly I have done no investigation at all. I can press the starter button and nothing happens, (sometimes), the blinker is the same, sometimes nothing happens. I will pull them apart tomorrow and have a look. Thanks for the advice

I had a similar problem Andrew and it turned out to be a bad connection in the clutch switch.
If you look like your passport photo then you're too sick to travel.

Be careful of using non-OEM switches - I had a forum member give me a call last year as basically the items controlled by the RH switch were not working. After cleaning the switch inside and out,we had it all working except for the starter motor turning when we pressed the starter switch. Bought what looked like an identical switch off eBay which was off a 14 being broken (so OEM), fitted it and nothing worked. Head scratching time! We then discovered after looking at microfiche on a dealer website that the wiring inside the switches varied on some models. Bought a bran new OEM switch that match - bingo, everything worked. In a lot of cases i think they use different configurations within the plugs for the wiring loom (so probably had we known we could have swapped terminals around within the plug)

So just be a little wary about eBay switches, the wiring may vary from standard
Nothing to do.............all day to do it....I love retirement

I fitted some cheap universal ebay specials to a mate's trike I rewired last year. The kill switched died within weeks, the rest is still working though.
