I don't really know if it's a new thing but whatever the case I have noticed that the space in the clutch handle pull between fully engaged and fully disengaged is very little. Also the friction point is right near the outer part of the clutch handle pull. ( I hope that makes sense? )

Is there any means of adjusting these things on our bikes?

As far as i know only the lever adjust thingy. I find clutch action on mine maybe the best ive had on any bike.

Hooli

No, it's hydraulic so self-adjusting.

Have you cleaned the slave out recently? even with new fluid a snotty goo eventually builds up behind the piston, as the water in the fluid settles & doesn't get blown out the bleed nipple. Plus you'll clean out the dirt in front of the piston at the same time, which is what appears to make mine play up.

Plus of course cleaning the pushrod so it's not sticky as it goes through the casings.

Agree Hooli. Im so fussy with that pushrod. Using gear oil as chain lube has kept slave area  much cleaner.

@VladTepes , no not adjustable. Do also check the lever assembly, i do get grit in the mechanism around the pivot, can affect the feel of the pick up point
I try to take one day at a time, however sometimes several days catch up with me at once.

you haven`t inadvertently moved the adjuster on the lever have you? I fitted a new lever (STD) to my clutch on the weekend as the original was cracked and finally became two bits and set the new one on 1 just like the old one was and stalled the bike the first time I tried to ride it as the take up was virtually zero from the bar, moved it to 3 and the take up was too much, back to 2 and it`s now how it was, about 1/2 an inch , maybe you have moved it from 1-5 during cleaning

VladTepes

nah its always been as close to the lever as the positions allow - the others are way too far a reach.  But no it hasn't changed.

If I still had the factory levers I'd try them to check, but those were damaged in a  crash / drop.

gsxbarmy

Original rubber or aftermarket clutch line Mike?

I had similar to you on my old VTR Honda, changed the line and the action was nice and crisp again.
Nothing to do.............all day to do it....I love retirement

KiwiCol

You had some work done by Tuefel, maybe he can shed some light on it.
😎  Always looking for the next corner.  😎

@gsxbarmy  Aftermarket braided line mate has been there all the time I've owned it.

@KiwiCol Nah Teufel didn't do anything with the clutch mate (not necessary)
